Our life is spent attempting to find that elusive balance between manifesting the boldness and confidence that is ours in Christ and the absolute humility found in knowing we (in and of ourselves) are nothing. Truly the only reason we have anything of any real value in our lives is because of who and what God has made us in Christ. Anyone who believes their good looks, abundant resources or family pedigree makes them “special” just doesn’t get it.
We must never allow ourselves to fall into the trap of thinking we are owed anything by God or His people. We must never allow ourselves to mistakenly believe our accomplishments, physical stature, financial wherewithal or intellectual prowess allows us special privileges in the Body of Christ.
For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called :
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty ;
And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are.
1 Corinthians 1:26-28
God takes great delight in calling those the world considers foolish, weak, base and despised. God takes great delight in confounding the mighty and bring down those who are too rich or powerful to need God. Obviously, we are special only because of who and what God made us and not who and what we have made of ourselves.
No amount of money can buy a person power or influence in the family of God. No amount of intelligence guarantees a person higher standing in the household of faith. No amount of physical strength provides a person greater access to the throne of God. No amount of worldly influence allows a person to know God better.
Many times, God searches out and finds the most broken down, despicable, filthy, despised, scorned and desolate person to invite to His special dinner. Many times, God extends personal invitations to those rejected by the wealthy, scorned by the noble and despised by the world to spend some quality time in His presence. Many times, God calls the people who appear to be least qualified to abide in Him.
Many of us have absolutely nothing the world considers cool. Many of us barely scrape by making just enough money to live from one day to the next. Many of us have broken down bodies full of pain or disease, weak and feeble minds prone to anxiety. Many of us have nothing the world wants.
Despite our apparent lack of credentials, God has chosen US to “have it all” in Him. God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places so as to confound and befuddle those who view us as a waste to humanity. Personally, I love knowing that despite my utter lack of material wealth, physical strength, noble birth and intellectual superiority; God loves me and has raised me up to speak for Him and confound those who look with jealousy upon all I have and can do in Christ.
I am so thankful ...this is no cliche AMAZING GRACE! thanks for this message
