So much of what I see happening in different countries reminds me of events recorded in the Old Testament. Whether Pharaohs, kings or emperors; the Bible tells us of men whose only desire in life was to control as many people as possible. The thirst for power drove them to massacre, enslave and eliminate people, cities and even nations.
Men and women whose only reason for living is to control as many people as possible will stop at nothing to accomplish their goals. People who are so in love with themselves that they honestly think they are better than God will stop at nothing to disgrace and deny this God so many weak people worship. There is no way to for an extreme God to co-exist with a supreme earthly ruler.
Supreme earthly rulers exert their domination through intimidation and elimination of all enemies. How many times in the Old Testament was Israel or Judah led into captivity or basically annihilated? How many times did the prophets of old cry out for the people to return to God lest they be killed by invading conquerors or forced to serve as their slaves in distant lands?
For quite some time, God has raised up prophets whose mission has been to warn God's people of impending disaster if they do not come back to His Word. For the most part, the message of these prophets has been ignored and/or scoffed at. People look at the power and might of countries such as the United States, Great Britain, Germany etc and see no reason to be alarmed.
Over the past two generations, the people in this world have made a near total turn from a simple life with God at its center to a supposedly better life that has eliminated God for the most part. Instead of God determining where one lives, what they do for a living or how they live their life; people have yielded to the incessant messages brought to them through television, motion pictures and education.
Of course there are still people who honestly love God and serve Him for God has promised there will always be a remnant. But, most of the houses of worship in the civilized world are full of people who really don't want to be there but are trying to appease (in their minds) a God they barely know by giving Him one of their life per week.
For those who place their trust in man, the Word of God declares plainly that they will ultimately be disappointed, defeated and perhaps destroyed. For those who submit to man's word instead of and in place of God's Word; their temporary gain will one day be replaced with an eternity of weeping and gnashing of teeth.
God's Word plainly declares in 1 Timothy that we are to PRAY for those in authority; not that they repent and establish a Theocracy, but rather that they leave us alone to live a quiet and peaceful life in all Godliness and honesty. All I desire is the freedom to worship, trust and serve my God without some government official telling me it is against the law. All I desire is that my life is a beacon of light in the darkness of this world and proof that the one true God is indeed sovereign and is, was and always will be the one and only SUPREME RULER.
Thank you and Blessings 2 You!
