Laying claim to our victory in Christ

The true “battleground state” is between our two ears where the daily wars are fought. This “state” is where our very capacity to remain faithful to our God lies. Within the confines of our mind, we must wrestle with thoughts of anger, revenge, pity, lust, greed and the desire to quit. This is where the “real world” abides and this where we need to lay claim to the victory Christ won for us.

The “real world” is where people must deal with gut wrenching and energy sapping situations. The “real world” is where the evilness and godlessness of this world collide with goodness of God. The “real world” is where the burdens of living (sickness, financial concerns etc) test a Christian’s resolve and push him/her to the edge of trusting God or not.

The challenge we all face every day is whether we will rise up and lay claim to the promises of God or lay low and find excuses for not claiming them. Many times some of the fiercest battles are over some of the seemingly most insignificant things. Sometimes we simply need to stake our claim even when the stakes appear negligible.

Near the end of World War II, a fierce battle was waged for control of nothing more than a rocky island that happened to be home to a Japanese stronghold. One of the most memorable images of that war is when the United States soldiers plant their flag atop a hill on the island of Iwo Jima. A seemingly insignificant battle turned out to be a significant turning point in the war and hastened its end.

When the mind is being pressured to snap and the heart is being split in two by conflicting parties, this is the time we need to muster the strength and resolve to mount one last charge that leads to victory. Resisting the temptation to quit, we throw everything we have into beating our foes and breaking down their stronghold.

We have a very real and extremely dangerous enemy. This enemy has publically declared that his will is our destruction. Hoping to intimidate us into running away in fear, this enemy seeks to paralyze and then devour us. This is why we must stand up and draw upon the power of God to pull us through to victory.

The keys to victory are found in having the resolve to never quit, having the tenacity to never back down and having the trust in Almighty God that allows us to draw upon His strength and power. We have the authority to demand the enemy “stand down” in the name of Jesus Christ. We have the ability to win so the question is whether we have the resolve, tenacity and trust to lay claim to the victory promised to us by God in His Word.

These words jumped out at me as I thought about a situation I am facing. Far too often, we try to fight the battle on our own. We get caught up in what we need to do or not do. Rather than go forth under His Banner, we go out under our own with sad results. Or, we are under His Banner but refuse to act like we are. We forget that we are acting under His authority.

This introduction to your blog 'smacked me around the head' as soon as I read it. If you heard an echo of "Amen" around the B2Y ranch, well ... it was me!

I wish I had said that.

Well it was the first paragraph that grabbed my attention. The truth of this we so easily can forget, but the battles truly begin and end with the mind.

Awesome blog!
