Lord, I need a miracle

On this date, twenty five years ago, I experienced the most amazing supernatural day of my life. Starting with receiving specific revelation regarding how to handle a situation I had no earthly knowledge how to handle, all the way through perfectly handling that situation; God was at work doing His perfect will.

Oh how I wish I were at liberty to speak of what took place at the time, but I am not. Suffice it to say, it was a huge day in my Christian life and spurred me to rise up in my walk for God to heights unknown and unexplored. In fact, when I look back at the events that took place in September/October of 1987, I see the unmistakable hand of God at work guiding and directing me to places I had never been and to a level of maturity I had never dreamed possible.

It is truly amazing what God can do for us if we will humbly bow before Him and put down our intellectual degrees, our letters of earthly commendation, our long lists of selfish demands and our 101 reason why we cannot do what He says. When we strip ourselves bare of pride and accomplishment and rise up past our fears and pride, we can actually find ourselves in the presence of God.

I remember going out to a small lake hoping to clear my mind and obtain a degree of peace regarding what needed to be done. I had no earthly idea how to handle what was happening and since I was devoid of human knowledge, I knew I either had to rise up and receive God’s plan or fail miserably by falling back on my own resources.

As I had done many times in my life, I got to the point where I pictured myself standing naked before God with absolutely nothing to hide. In this state of absolute humility and trust, I requested His help in my time of need. With no pre set boundaries or self made criteria, I bowed down before the Maker of the Heavens and the earth and simply said “Thy will be done”.

Shortly thereafter I had a notebook full of specific things that were to be done with five people the evening of October 11, 1987. To the best of my knowledge, I did exactly what I was instructed to do (even though I had never done any of it before), and by the end of that evening the five of us saw the unmistakable imprint of the hand of God on our gathering, thereby erasing all fears and bringing great peace and faith.

Never underestimate the power of God to step in and help you deal with a situation that defies understanding. Never doubt the ability of God to give you specific instructions as to His will. Never fall into the trap of believing you are not important enough for God to speak to you. As a child of God, there is no reason why God should not and will not help you through a demanding, difficult or potentially explosive situation.

The Bible says that God is at work within you to do the good pleasure of His will. The Bible says that God will indeed guide and direct you as you trust in Him completely and lean not on your own understanding. The Bible says that God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we could ever ask or think according to the power that works in us. The Bible says that God will always provide an escape from any situation seeking to destroy you.

The ability to fully trust God demands the destruction of pride, elimination of haughty self sufficiency, dismissal of preconceived ideas, refusal to think you are not “good enough” etc. The next time you are faced with a situation that requires God’s solutions, please try and get to that point of utter and absolute humility by standing in His very presence with nothing to hide and totally willing to do as He says, no matter what. Doing this, you just might find yourself in the middle of the greatest miracle you have ever experienced in this life.

As I read this, I thought about the times when I have been facing seemingly impossible situations and suddenly the way was cleared. Sometimes obstacles were miraculously removed. Other times God gave me the resources to climb over or even "blow-up" the obstacle. Regardless of how He did it, the point is God enables to do whatever He has asked us to do.

Blessings!
