For most of us, once upon a time life was fairly simple. We had jobs to go to, functions to attend, families to take care of etc. Over time, what was once simple became routine and what was routine became a rut. Just a car cannot move forward if stuck in a rut, so we cannot move ahead with the things of God if we are stuck in a rut.
Over the past few years it seems as if God has been going out of His way to disrupt, change and redirect many of us. Jobs have been lost, health issues have arisen, family members have had problems and a whole array of situations have come up that have challenged us to say the least. For many of us now, every day is an adventure in believing God with few guarantees other than what God has given in His Word.
Is this really so bad? Is it really such a horrible thing to be confronted with the daily choice to trust God or the world? If anything, the radical changes that many of us have seen the past few years have refocused our energy and made us stronger believers. Many of us have literally had our lives hang in the balance as we fought through physical, financial, emotional and other situations.
When looking at a bad situation it is always good to establish whether it is a "test or a trick". In other words, is the situation an attack of the enemy or a test by God of our faith. There are times when it is very clear from God's Word that our response to pressure should be to endure, standfast and hang in there. There are also times, when we are under attack, that the Word of God tells us to resist and launch a counter attack using the shield of faith and the sword of the spirit, the Word of God.
It is my belief that in these last days, God is testing His people by putting them in situations where they will show their true colors. Nothing proves what is in a person's heart faster than being put squarely in a pressurized situation. The choice is ours whether we will sink in fear or swim in faith. The decision is ours whether we will run away and hide or take our stand upon the truth.
Of course it is nice when all that is expected of us is to get up, go to work, come home, go to church on Sunday and watch movies the rest of the time. But, how does this lifestyle help anyone else? How does this lifestyle enhance your personal relationship with God? How does this lifestyle foster faith in God vs. faith in this world?
The more changes we endure the more we find out that God and His Word never change. In our ever changing world where there are few assurances and fewer guarantees; it is vital that we hold fast to the words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the promises of God that are the same yesterday, today and forever.

This is soo true as God is preparing his people for the end times and I am so pleased that he has chosen many here in CB to be in his vanguard.
When I was a girl, my dad taught ceramics to other disabled vets. One thing that struck me was when the stain was applied, it looked like it was the wrong color. I remember my dad telling me that was all right. When it was in the kiln, the impurities would burn away, it would be set into the ceramic and the true color of the stain would become visible. I have never forgotten that. Indeed, the "fire" does bring out our "true colors".
