The power and simplicity of ONE

At times, the most profound things in the Word of God are actually quite simple. Take for instance what is recorded in 1 Timothy 2:4-6:

4Who [God our Savior] will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

5For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

6Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

King James Version (KJV)

The will of God is that ALL MEN be saved and no one perish. It is not the primary will of God to watch with glee as people are tossed into the lake of fire to burn for eternity. It breaks the Father's heart when people reject Him and refuse to receive the salvation made available to them in Christ Jesus. The will of God is that people not only get saved, but that they come unto the knowledge of the truth. The only way to gain this knowledge is to study the written Word (logos) of God and develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ who was the Word (logos) of God incarnate.

A huge part of the truth that God wills all men come unto is that there is ONE GOD and ONE MEDIATOR between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. There is only ONE GOD able to save His people and only ONE MEDIATOR who is able to bridge the gap between God and man and this is the man Christ Jesus. Please look at Ephesians 4:4-6:

4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

5One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

King James Version (KJV)

There is ONE God who is the Father of all, who is above all and through all and in you all. There is ONE Lord, who is our Lord Jesus Christ. There is ONE faith which is the faith that is in Christ Jesus. There is ONE baptism which is into Christ Jesus. There is ONE body which is the body of Christ. There is ONE Spirit which is the Holy Spirit which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. There is ONE hope of our calling which is the glorious return of Jesus Christ.

The simple yet profound truth is that there is ONE GOD who is our Father who is above, through and in all who are saved. There is ONE MEDIATOR between God and man and that mediator is the one man--Christ Jesus. This one man, Christ Jesus, gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. This one man, Christ Jesus, has been exalted by God to the position of being LORD of His church, which is His body. This one man, Christ Jesus, is whom we believe in, are baptized into and in whom our faith rests. This one man, Christ Jesus, dwells within us and is the token of our inheritance in the saints and our hope of glory.

One is not a lonely number when it comes to God. To the contrary, it is the ONE thing that separates our God from all others. We serve ONE GOD and ONE LORD in ONE FAITH baptized in ONE baptism living as ONE body with ONE hope. May we never forget how simple the number ONE is when it comes to God and our salvation in Christ Jesus.

You've done a beautiful job of writing of "the power and the beauty of oneness," Kirk!

What a perfect ending for an exemplary blog!

It's quite amazing how uniting the lonely number one can be, under careful consideration, and I think you've found a really effective way to present the points in this blog. The ending was just flawless - well done on this :clap:

I am thinking of you and Beth lots and praying to ask the Lord's protection and kindness for you both, and to ask that he would bless you both by meeting all your needs in a way that takes away earthly worries and brings you heavenly peace.

Grace, peace and blessings to you in Christ,

Sarah

I agree.

There is ONE God, ONE Mediator, ONE Lord, ONE Faith and One Baptism.
