The Ray Boltz Bombshell

In 1993 I stumbled upon a man and his music which greatly blessed me and many times moved me to both tears and action. Over the next few years, I greatly admired both the evangelistic ministry as well as the music of this man. To this day, I have perhaps 6 of this CDs in my collection, and his latest, released just a couple of years ago, was perhaps my favorite.

The news released yesterday that Ray Boltz is gay and happy has devastated me. How can a man turn his back on his wife and children and all he has devoted his life to teaching and sharing through his music and ministry? How can a man, turn his back on his manhood and decide his "genes" are really gay and not straight? How can a deeply conservative Christian justify such behavior?

Reaction from most Christian circles has been swift and critical, as I believe it should be. Reaction from the gay community has been swift and supportive, as well it should be expected. I cannot condemn the man, but I can certainly condemn the sin. I honestly do not know what the difference is between a man running out on his wife and kids with another woman vs another man. Sin is sin.

The rash of moral failures among high profile Christian leaders and celebrities is staggering. Every week it seems there is another highly respected person brought down by scandal or failure. Some would say this is simply human. I would say this is justifying sin.

Ray Boltz needs to get down on his knees and do what he sang about many times-repent. In fact, he needs to get down on his belly and cover himself with sackcloth and ashes. Will he do it? Absolutely not from the way it sounds. His conscience is seared with a hot iron and once that happens in a person, there is usually no turning back.

This is truly very sad and discouraging news for any of us who try to teach and live by the moral code of conduct the Bible teaches. This is devastating news to his many fans who adored his musical talents. This is crushing news to his poor family which must come to grips with what to do next. I am sure they would appreciate any and all prayers that could be offered for them.

I don't know what to say but that I'm shocked.

No, that's not strong enough of a word . . . dumbfounded?

Lord, help us.

Jeff Ostema @thereisnogray ·

out there in the blogosphere, there is much justification of his 'coming out.' I am startled by the number of "christians" -- (likely in name only) who are supporting his choice. Can we pray for him? Yes. Can we love him? Yes. Can we accept his open choice to choose sin" Absolutely not.

Daily the devil infiltrates our ranks. His battle is with us as true believers and followers of the Most High God. He has the rest of the world where he wants them: numb, awash in their sin, and living in the gray area. Satan is using the lukewarm, label wearing 'christian' to wear down the rest of us with justification and allegations of hate and fear.

Flee from your sin, people. Stand up in love and proclaim the truth. Pray, fast, love, cry out to God that the chains that bind this world will be broken.

God Bless

I am sad, stunned and dumbstruck. Here is a man who has blessed many through the talent God has blessed him with. One, whom by all appearances was a devoted Christian and now, this??? The question again, can one lose their salvation? I have never been a once saved always saved person, but if he does not repent and return to the Lord what are we to think? I will pray for his family and for him, for the Lord to penetrate his heart and call him back onto the narrow path. I am so sad.

Samantha Shemer @youaregolden ·

I have to say that this dumbfounded me too. I remember my mom letting me watch those powerful music videos he had and them making me cry. His songs were so powerful... We must pray for him that God shows him the greatness of his sin...

Here is another blog about the subject :

My heart is grieved....

Thanks Golden for the other story which is better. I must warn anyone who goes to the one at Christianity Today to read the billions of comments at your own risk. I just tried reading about 100 of them and got so nauseated I physically got sick. I simply cannot believe what I am reading people who claim to be Christians say about this subject. Call me naive or whatever, but honestly, I had no idea this way of thinking and life was so prevalent among "Christians" and churches.

I must return to other work, but this whole thing has done more to disturb me than all the hurricanes and financial disasters of the past few day combined.

Samantha Shemer @youaregolden ·

I was so sick at most of the comments too Blessings... made me so sad that people are sooo mislead these days... We must pray and continue to stand for truth.

Jeff Ostema @thereisnogray ·

I just read some of the comments at the link above. Frankly, many of them are mild by comparison to what's on some more secular sites like blogger and wordpress. Mind you, these are comments by so called Christians--living in the gray area.

Rhonda Jones @blackrose65 ·

I am stunned. Completely stunned. oh well, I'm so... hurt, I feel betrayed. But Praise God... I'll get over it.

Anna Jones @annajones ·

I think God that I have finally found a Christian site that will stand for Holiness,,,and God's word on this subject...Its wrong !!! and a stink in God's nostils.....There is no way that this kind of life style is pleasing to God.... Does God love Ray,,,,Why yes he does...and he willing to forgive him...If Ray will be willing to turn from his sin...But if not ...then we all have a free will.... But again I Thank God for those of you know still believe this life stlye is sin and wrong in the site of our Lord Jesus Christ....Can you only emgaine how God must feel........

The devil would rather take down one minister than hundreds of others. Reason being is the same reasoning the Viet Cong had for killing all the medics they could. For each medic they killed they believed many others would die because of not having the immediate medical care they needed.

The devil has used many things to lure ministers into his grip including money, power, and sex. Other big names have fell over the years including Jim Baker, Jimmy Swagart, Oral Roberts, and others too many to name. There was a big movement in the 90's the devil was using to destroy ministries, this movement was divorce.

Romans 1:28 - 32 (NKJV) 28And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

We should keep all our brothers and sister in prayer, especially our ministers. Our ministers fight spiritual battles more than us all. I pray none of them fall into the context of Romans 1:28-32.

The bold text I added.

As the mother of a son who believes he is g**, I completely agree with thereisnogray.

Kirk M @blessings2you ·

"Thereisnogray" you are absolutely right. I have a secular and a Christian blog on a secular blog site where I post on disaster relief. I posted a much longer and different toned version of this blog on the Christian site. Oh my oh my. I have never in my adult life been called so many atrocious things. I have never been made to feel like I am dead wrong for speaking the truth. I simply cannot believe the venom and hatred these people have for someone daring to say what the Bible says. This is all coming from "Christians". So far I have ONE Christian on "my side".

My heart is so heavy I cannot function. The Christ within me is crying His eyes out. What has His glorious Body become but the very worst of the harlotry mentioned in the Old Testament. Please Lord Jesus, Come Quickly.

K Reynolds @kreynolds ·

My heart is heavy over this as well. As I've said before, stating what God's Word says is not judging! God already made the judgment.
Yes, we are saved by grace. Yes, God loves us in spite of ourselves. However, people seem to like to ignore the fact that God has certain expectations which he wants us to follow! People also like to forget that Jesus also said to go and sin no more.

The devil is working hard because he knows his time is short. Bring out those chains. It is time he is incarcerated for a thousand years.

Virginia Sills @happytoberestored ·

Tchable is right on, as are the rest of y'all.

Ray Boltz is a number one target of our enemy. Anyone who can help bring people closer to Our Father is going to have a target on them at all times. Granted we all have a target on us as believers, but I truly believe that the devil paints those special "infrared" targets on our leaders and ministers.

Lord, please bring Ray back home.

Oh Father God, my heart hurts for him.

Vivian Wright @kingdomacresmomof7 ·

Amen to happytoberestored.
This man, and that is All that he is.
Has been completly suduced by the devil.
To make us all look bad to the world.
But God still loves him and is willing to restore him just
as much as he would be willing for any of us if we fell from his Grace.
But we should never put anyone on a pedestal!
And always remember that it was God who gave him the gifts and saw fit to do so.
It is very sad that he gave up the fight, but at lest he chose not to play the hypocrite any more.
Remember it is those who endure untill the end that will be saved.

Robin Argyle @hisrose ·

I too was deeply touched by the music of Ray Boltz. To battle something all of your life, (as he says he did) is one thing, to give up the good fight and give yourself over to the lies of the enemy is quite another! He has justified his actions and unfortunately leaves behind a wonderful wife and children who are left to wonder how this could happen. My prayers are with them.

Kirk M @blessings2you ·

My heart continues to weep as now Clay Aiken of American Idol fame "came out of the closet" today to announce he is gay. It appears that anything holding people back from expressing themselves is over.
