The other day a few of us went to a well known cave. Walking through one of the most amazing things in all of nature, a number of things crossed my mind.
I believe the tour guide said that it took over a hundred years for a stalactite to grow an inch. Some of the stalactites in that cave were 7 feet long. Just as in the case of the Grand Canyon, over vast amounts of time, water is able to erode the minerals in rocks and produce pillars, tables and other shapes which no man could craft.
What something like going through a cave does is put into perspective just how awesome God is and how small we really are. No one knows how old that cave is anymore than anyone knows how long ago some Super Nova exploded deep in the universe. The things of God know no boundaries of time and space for God is eternal and cannot be captured and placed in a box.
Although we know that God created the current heaven and earth which we enjoy in six days, only God knows when we created galaxies and stars whose light has traveled millions of light years to reach us.
Nothing inspires greater awe in the might power and glory of God more than gazing into the heavens and knowing those lights we see and call stars are so far away our minds cannot grasp the distance involved.
Ephesians 3:20 says that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we could ever ask or think. This is why it is truly a tragedy to put God in a box and thereby limit what He can do or how He can do it. Our job is not to try and figure God out but rather to trust in His super abounding power, might and ability to do things beyond our ability to understand.
How anyone could deny the existence of God is a mystery to me. How anyone could really believe all that is found in nature evolved from a one cell amoeba is beyond me. How anyone could look into the night sky and really believe that the universe was created by a big bang is utter insanity to me.
I am content to stand in awe of God and His vastness. I am content to bask in the knowledge He is in me and holds my hand every day. No wonder His Word states that if God be for us, who could be against us. Amen.
He is a great and mighty God. I have recently hear an audio on cave stalagmites, where they actually found the body of a bat encased within the stalagmite which much to the surprise of the cave expert should never have happened. The bats body should have decayed long before it could have been encased. It set mind to wondering if their theories of how long it took some of the "big" ones to form is correct or not. Once when caving, the guide circled us all up and then shut out the lights. Never again have I been is such pure darkness. Even now it give me chills. I am reminded that that is exactly where that without Christ live. The guide struck a single match and suddenly the darkness began to pull back and everyone instinctively moved towards the light. What am awesome Creator, not only can He speak the planets into being, but He can place the light across a million light years within the same words. Very cool actually.
Good stuff B2Y...
Brother Kirk, thanks for this blog. It reminds me of the greatness , the awesomeness of our God, the God we worship and who is our Heavenly Father. Let's continue to remind ourselves of that immensity of His Being, that we might look at the situations and things of our lives in the correct perspective.
He alone is the Great God who created this huge enormous universe who even bother to love us and to take care of our existense on this earth. I feel suddenly so humbled by His attention upon me and on the details of my life. To God be the Glory.

He is the Creator! God Bless you! Dave
Our Creator is awesome. He has created all that is in the universe. He has created earth and all living things upon the earth. Yet, He longs for and willingly spends time with each of us who know and love Him. His Love is so amazing! Thanks for this writing. revgenlink
The words to the song, How Great Thou Art, are going through my mind right now. Truly, everywhere we look in nature serves as a reminder of the majesty of God. Truly God is amazing...and yet... He loves us so very much!
What is God doing on the earth today, since God is finished with creation? What is God doing today that is "exceedingly abundant above all that we ask or think?
