The utter depravity of man vs. the hope and love in Christ Jesus

Wouldn't it be nice to wake up one day to a world where everyone loved each other, that had no poverty, pain or pride, a world with no anger, bitterness or spite that had no fear, anxiety or panic driven hysteria? This utopian world has captured the fancy of poets and philosophers for centuries. It represents the “nirvana” of man's existence and the ultimate aim of man being his own savior and god.

Phrases such as “peace on earth” and “can't we all just get along” sound good but are utterly impossible in this world. There are nearly seven billion human beings on this planet and a huge percentage of them have no desire whatsoever to see peace or harmony with anyone, let alone everyone.

Politics, religion and personal ambition act as atomic bombs which utterly obliterate the good intentions of people who strive to manifest love, good will and compassion to those in greatest need. The world is full of ruthless people who have no desire other than their own rise to power or the supremacy of their particular political agenda or religious dogma. People are nothing but pawns and disposable objects to be used as a means to an end.

It is naïve to think that within the heart of all men dwells a desire to be and do good. There is no such desire until and unless God puts it there. The heart of a man who knows not God is desperately evil and motivated by pride, envy, greed, lust, fear or the desire for worship and adoration.

The vast majority of people who have ever lived on this planet do so with one goal in mind and that is to survive another day. Self preservation is far and away the greatest reason most people do what they do in life.

Within the animal kingdom, self preservation (together with reproduction) represents the primary reason for existence. When humans digress to the same mentality, humans are no better than their canine, feline and other “wild animal” kin. Self preservation is a powerful motivator and one that should never be downplayed. When people are trapped and feel their life is in mortal danger, they will do anything and everything it takes to stay alive; even if it means destroying the person next to them.

All good things come from God who is good. Once we are saved we have within us the ultimate good thing which is the Holy Spirit. As we live in and by that spirit and put to death our old nature along with its sin, we are transformed into an Ambassador for Christ and a living testimony of God's grace, peace, power and love. Instead of simply surviving through self preservation and using others for self gain, we find contentment in Christ and the passion to love others and show them the Savior who can heal and make them whole.

In desperation, man looks to governments and religion for help during times of crisis. Sometimes these agencies can provide help but usually they cannot. As Christians, we need to look unto our God who has promised to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus and not to the political systems and religious dogmas of man. As Christians, when we rally together to help each other and reach out to those in need, the beauty and the greatness of the One Body of Christ is seen by all and is set in stark contrast to the inefficiency and worthlessness of most efforts by the world to help itself.

We are not here (in this world) to scurry about seeking to survive another day, living in fear of failure or death, suspicious of everyone and looking at anyone as a potential enemy or any other sordid scenario. We are here to be a beacon of light piercing the darkness and helping the hopeless find their way home to God. We are not here to be a congregation locked in our churches out of fear but rather the living and breathing reality of the Body of Christ as it reaches out in love to help a dying and scared world.

I think you summarized it well. Just think of what things would be like if we simply did just that! May we truly be a beacon of light piercing the darkness like you said, not locked away in our churches but as the living and breathing reality of the Body of Christ and doing what He would do.

Blessings!

Yes. Seen a lot of politican movements, religious inventions, new humanist dogmas... led to tragedies. Only GOD, Only Christ is the road, truth and life to all human beings on this little sphere. Thanks for sharing. In Christ, Amen!
