What God wants us to receive for Christmas (and every other day)

The apostle Paul prayed a truly incredible prayer in the first chapter of Ephesians. Please look at part of that prayer in Ephesians 1:17-20:

“I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him

18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of His calling, and what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints ,

19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power ,

20 which He wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places .”

Paul prayed that our the eyes of our understanding be enlightened so that we know;

  1. What is the hope of His calling
  2. What are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints
  3. What is the exceeding greatness of His power to us who believe

How many Christians do you know who even have a clue these three things exist, let alone have any understanding of them? The overwhelming majority of Christians do not even know Ephesians is in the Bible, let alone what anything in the epistle means. It is because of this, the vast majority of Christians only view their faith as a religion instead of the very essence of their life.

God’s will is that we receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. God’s will is that the eyes of our heart be opened so that we KNOW what is expected of us in this life, what is coming for all eternity and the incredible spiritual power given to us who believe. These are things which are important to God. These are things that the very cornerstone of our faith.

Our daily prayer should be one of humbly beseeching God for greater wisdom and understanding of;

  1. Who we are in Christ
  2. What we have in Christ
  3. What we will be in Christ

If we could look in the mirror and see even a glimpse of what God sees when He looks at us, our lives would change instantly and everything in our lives would change too. If we could see in our heart what God has given to us in Christ, we would never again view this life in the same light again. If we could understand, just a little bit of the greatness of His inheritance within us which is our hope, we would never again live for today only.

In this season of giving, I pray that God continues to give all of us greater understanding of who we ARE in Christ, what we HAVE in Christ and what we WILL BE in Christ. I pray that each and every one of us can open our heart and receive from God greater understanding of what is really important to Him and not what religion thinks is important to Him.

Who we ARE in Christ, what we HAVE in Christ and what we WILL BE in Christ. It is easy to get our minds off of this and diverted onto other things but pondering upon and remembering these things is crucial. This is what helps us to deflect the fiery darts the enemy attempts to fire into our minds.

We are not who the enemy says we are... we are who God says we are.

Blessings!

Thank you for this prayer. I can not think of any better gift to receive than this.

Blessings
