Somebody asked me recently what I believe. After pondering this question for awhile, I decided to put down in print some of the things I believe to be true. By no means is this a complete list, but at least it gives anyone interested a hint of who I am and what I believe.
I believe there is one eternal GOD, who is our heavenly Father who was and is and is to come.
I believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God who was God manifested in the flesh and who died for our redemption and was raised from the dead for our eternal sanctification.
I believe in the Holy Spirit who is both God Himself as well as the gift He gives us when we get saved.
I believe that Jesus Christ will return, first to gather His church and then with His church return to establish His Millennial Kingdom on earth.
I believe that the Holy Spirit was given on the Day of Pentecost as a gift from God that enables us to be spiritual beings who can walk by the spirit, fellowship with God who is spirit and walk with great power and wisdom in this life.
I believe that speaking in tongues is the external manifestation of the internal reality of the indwelling Holy Spirit and is a good thing.
I believe collectively, all believers make up the Body of Christ with Christ as the Head of His Church.
I believe that the Old Testament was written for our learning that we may understand the heart of God in order to love and serve Him better.
I believe that Jesus Christ was the end of the Law and we now live under the greater law of love in this age of grace.
I believe that the Church Epistles were written to give us specific understanding of the age of grace in which we live.
I believe we live in the administration of grace which started at Pentecost and ends when Christ returns to gather together His saints.
I believe that the assembling of members of the Body of Christ is the fellowship we are exhorted to engage in.
I believe that the fellowship of believers can be in a church building, a home, a stadium or around a table.
I believe that we have no right to judge another believer in any matter but rather pray for each other and lift each other up in love.
I believe that God uses the hard times in this life to make us stronger and better equipped to love Him and each other more.
I believe that we must have extreme meekness toward God and humility toward each other.
I believe that the Word of God is the expressed will of God and is manifested in the flesh in Jesus Christ, in writing in the Bible and in revelation as given to individuals through the working of the Holy Spirit.
I believe that once we are saved, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit which is the token of our eternal inheritance.
I believe that there will be a Great White Throne Judgment when those who never believed on Christ in this life will be judged according to their deeds.
I believe that eternal rewards await believers as they strive to walk in fellowship with God, reach out to others with His Word and love each other with a pure heart fervently.
I realize that in publishing this list, I am opening myself up to criticism, scorn and opposition. I figure it is better to put the cards on the table than to hide them from view. I would not expect anyone to totally agree with these 20 things, but I would hope that in spite of any differences of opinion we may have, we can still walk together in the unity of spirit in the bond of peace.
