God is all powerful but He will never overstep the freedom of will He has given to us. God is all knowing but that doesn't mean He is under obligation to share all He knows to anyone. God is everywhere present but that does not guarantee He will step in and immediately do something about a situation we have gotten ourselves into.
Throughout the course of our lives we get ourselves into jams constantly. Sometimes these situations are of our own making and sometimes they are not. Either way, only an arrogant fool would believe there is nothing in life too big for them to handle using their own mind, intellect or resources.
In many respects, God waits on us to finally realize we cannot fix things on our own and cry out to Him. Just as pride prevents us from allowing people to help us at times, so pride prevents us from accepting God's help. There is such a fine line between being helpless and humbly accepting our shortcomings that most people miss it most of the time.
When God tells us you can do it, He is implying that it can only be done with His help. When God says let me do it, He is implying that something is beyond our ability to handle. When God tells us help someone do it, He is enlisting our hands and feet to carry out His purpose. When God tells us to allow someone to help you, He is helping us break free from the death grip of pride.
Somewhere in between the state of spiritual welfare many weak Christians dwell in and the state of pride and arrogance that prevents someone from receiving God's help lays the state God desires. God neither does everything for us nor expects us to do everything without Him. Our ability to rise up in our faith at the same time we bow down in humility allows us to be able to receive God's help and help others without being a broken vessel or an inflated egomaniac.
God is not a giant vending machine we go to anytime we want something. God is not a crutch used even when we are able to walk on our own. God is not a bully who gets a kick out of hurting us. God is not an abstract idea who is not real, vital or true. God is not a man that He should lie.
Somewhere in the midst of the error and wrong teaching that goes on about who God is and what God really wants is found the truth. God has chosen to reveal Himself through His Son Jesus Christ and within His written Word. As we come to know Jesus and gain a working knowledge of His Word, we understand who God is, what God wants from us in this life, what God will do for us and what God expects us to do for others.
As always, Blessings 2 You!
