Revelation 2:4 I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false; and you have perseverance and have endured for My name s sake, and have not grown weary. But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Who do you love? What do you love? I love my friends, and my family. Well they re easy to love most of the time because you know they love you back. What about those who don t love you? Who don t even know you? Well I love children they re easy to love. What about those who hate you? Those who annoy you? That little boy across the street from you who never lets you get any sleep; do you love him? That little girl with a torn dress. Always wearing the same shoes, and always asking you to play with her when you re trying to get your homework done. Or when your friends are over. Do you love her? Matthew 5:43-48 You have heard the law that says, love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies, Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect. Love is costly; you can't love one person and not love another. You can't love God if you don't love people. You can't love people if you don't love yourself. Let Jesus come first. To love Jesus more than anyone or anything and everything else comes naturally. 1 John (4:20) (Revelation 2:4) Ok so now you know what you love and how you re supposed to love. Who do you love more? The easy surface answer is Jesus of course. But think about it; do you really love Him the most? I mean you ve got homework, sports, friends, babysitting, work etc don t forget about the video games. How much time do you spend on each? How much time do you spend with Jesus? I m not talking about going to church more or anything like that. I mean there are 24 hours in a day and you have homework, babysitting, you want to play that new video game you just got. You want your friends to come over but you ve gotta clean the house first. Where does Jesus fit in to all of this? How much time do you spend with Him apart from church? Spending time by really seeking His face. Really listening to His word as He speaks to your heart. Cause before you know it the days over and you haven t even said hi to Him. All these things aren t bad but set your priorities. Do you really love Jesus more than anyone or anything? More than your best friend who you can tell anything to? More than that new video game? You may say you love Him but do your actions show it? James 2:17- So you see, faith by itself isn't enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless. 1 John 3:18- Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. Again love is costly; you can't love one person and not love another. You can't love God if you don't love people. You can't love people if you don't love yourself. Let Jesus come first. To love Jesus more than anyone or anything and everything else comes naturally. 1 John (4:20) (Revelation 2:4) Let Jesus be your first love; everything else comes naturally.
