On February 11, 2010 at 7:45:14pm (PST) the owner of ChristianBlog.Com announced via a personal status update that there was a "secrete" new feature for Gold Members.
He followed that up a few days later (February 19, 2010 at 7:12:44am) with an announcement that the "secrete" new feature had been made available to Pledge Partners.
Today, March 2, 2010, right now at 12:19am, we are announcing that this "secrete" new feature is secrete-no-more!
Today we are announcing to the general membership (that would be all free-account members) that we are now allowing all of you access to this great new feature!
What is this great new you ask?
It is something we call "Attach A Blog Photograph".
Ok, so it's not really all that snappy of a title for a new feature.
But there is no doubt that this new feature, regardless of how dull of a name it has, is a rocking cool new feature!
This new feature, the "Attach A Blog Photograph" feature will allow you to upload a photograph from the "Blog Creation Preview" page, when you are in the process of creating a new blog.
This new feature allows you to not have to go through the trouble of uploading a photograph to your gallery, than using BBCode to include it into your Blog.
Simply click the little button that says "Attach A Blog Photograph", on the next page select the file from your computer and upload it, and you will be automatically returned to the "Blog Creation Preview" page!
Your photograph will be embedded right into your blog (on the top-right) and that is all there is too it!
No fuss, no mus as they say.
Is it really that simple?
Yes, it really is that simple!
The idea was to make it as simple as possible... and we could not think of a more simple way to include a photograph than what we have put together!
Unless, that is... somebody out there has some brilliant idea that is better than ours
It is really available to free members?
Amazingly enough... yes, it is available to all members of the ChristianBlog.Com website!
Yes, yes... we know... we usually keep the very coolest of features available for Pledge Partners, but we wanted to give a taste of the 'better things' awaiting those who upgrade their account.
Hopefully a large majority of our members will catch on that we are striving really hard to make ChristianBlog.Com the best online community for Christians anywhere on the internet... and that we need your financial help to do so!
If it means giving away a premier feature for all of our members to get a taste of better things... hey, we are totally willing to share a bit of the advanced features of ChristianBlog.Com in hopes you will help us out by sending a few dollars our way each month. Give as it is given unto you.
We would love to hear feedback from our members about this new feature!
A few folks have already been using it to include some amazing photographs to their blogs! See this one and this one for two great examples!
There is even an example of this new feature included with this very blog - just look up there ^^ to see it!
Blessings and enjoyments,
... Now I do not have to use my few remaining brain cells trying to remember the right image code!
Appreciate you, John! ...Wait! His name is John, right?
Don't know what happened to my comment that I left yesterday? But I concur with all the above!! Especially about John! But unlike Shadow who says he's younger than me...I remember his name ;)
Yet, I do have a question. This only works for one photo per blog, right? If so, is there another way to use multi photos in one blog?
After trying more than once to figure out how to actually get a scanned picture onto a blog, I happened across the add a photograph feature today and hooray it worked great and it was easy to use. Thanks John!
Great to hear everybody is enjoying this new feature!
If you are wanting to find a nice photograph to use for your blog, you can always try [url=http://bit.ly/c83a8H]this search feature at flickr.com[/url] which searches the flickr.com website for photographs that use the Creative Commons licenses, which means - so long as you privide a link back to the photograph within your blog - you can use the photos. You can see an example of how you have to give proper legal credit within the bottom of my blog [blog=abelajohnb/social-networking-first-amendment-rights/]here[/blog].
Just be aware, that if you do use that search feature, and you find a photograph you want to use, you MUST give proper legal credit or you will be breaking the law.
Also be aware that sometimes that flickr.com search feature returns photographs that might be of the 'adult nature'. Not usually, but sometimes it does, and I haven't found a way to keep it from doing so. But again, it rarely does for me.
Anyway, glad to hear everybody is enjoying this new feature!
To address the question by 2g, if you want to use more photos you'll have to upload them to your gallery and use the supplied BBcode provided within your personal gallery page.
