Feature Added (Premier Members): Personal Twitter Integration

Feature Added (Premier/Gold Members Only): Personal Twitter Integration

ChristianBlog.Com just released a new feature for our Premier/Gold Members called "Personal Twitter Integration" which (if you choose to use it) will post a tweet within your personal twitter account (if you have one) for each new Blog Entries that you Publish here at ChristianBlog.Com

This feature applies to all future Blog Entries that you have Published and does not apply to any previous Blog Entries that you have already Published.

This feature will only work if you have a twitter account and if you complete the form to activate it. It can be deactivated at any time by simply removing your twitter account information from our website.

This feature works identical to the Christianblog Account (@christianblog) account at twitter.com - which posts a new tweet for each new Blog Entry that is Published at ChristianBlog.Com

Here is how the interface looks:

You can get to it via your "Account Page":

Or you can get to it via your "My Blogs" page:

Again this feature is only available to members who are Premier/Gold Members due to the security requirements of storing your Twitter Account information (we utilize the same cryptographic technology that we use for the Personal Contact Information system.)

We hope all of our Premier/Gold Members find this a useful new feature to help drive new viewers to the Blog Entries you have Published here at ChristianBlog.Com!

Blessings,
ChristianBlog.Com

I just tried to set up the twitter account.

It said my twitter account and password do not match. I tried twice, then went to twitter and logged in.

I am there. Came back and tried to set it up again and received the same message well I was logged into twitter. Twitter doesn't like me! Tried access from both locations.

@kk,

How about I drop you a private message and see if we can work through this.

But, it'll be after our server switch over so we don't have to do things twice... so, maybe later tonight or tomorrow.

Drop me a PM if I forget... going to be a crazy 24-hours for me.

Thanks,
John

Just letting everyone know I tried again the next day and it worked. Twitter must have had a problem the other day. All is working as it should.

Hi John A.,

I have enjoyed 4 or 5 automatic posts. Cool! Would it be difficult to include new comments on others peoples blogs on Twitter? I was thinking it might drop outsiders into some interesting discussions?

Grant.

Grant Withers (@bimonics),

I am not sure I understand your question. Do you want to get a twet when somebody posts a new comment to a specific blog? If so, that won't happen, as ChristianBlog.Com already has a feature for that: "Check to receive email notification of other new comments to this blog entry."

ps: jump into my personal contact info and grab my twitter account and drop me a follow on twitter and i'll do the same - if you want too.

Hi John, i sent you message to access your personal contact info. Thanks much.

My question is; would it not be of benefit to me as a twitter uses if when i posted a comment on a blog at CB, that it was also posted as an entry on twitter? Thinking that a link to the comment would allow my followers to see what comments i am making on other blogs and thereby hook them on some of the great discussions available at CB?

This suggested feature may not be practical.

The Lord bless your day in every way - Grant.

Ok I will give this a try and see how it works. I think I am understanding the reasoning behind what you are saying and it seems a good idea.

I think I will (if this ends up working) need to add a little checkbox to authorize it on just those Blog Comments you want to have posted to twitter, rather than just flooding twitter with messages.

I will also have to work out a half-way decent twet-message...

Hi John, i hope you don't try to put this all together in one night! Twitter is an immediate outreach for CB for it puts CB at the fingertips of anybody following any CB member on twitter. Not only will comments be a large draw, but i could comment on other well written blogs to tempt my twitter followers to go there - to me that is a form of outreach also and on purpose.

On the other note, i vote for flipping the switch to open,

bimoniac

P.S. Wait! wait just a minute. Is that a "Check to post a twitter message about your comment" that i see? Yes, it is! Well I B, M R twitterables. Your expanding my mind here at CB. - Thanks.

@biomonics,

Yep, it sure is

It was easier than I thought...

Now we just have to hope that twitter doesn't decide to blacklist us for spamming LOL

John B. Abela (@abelajohnb),

That would be a loss for twitter because CB is quickly becoming a premier social site for one of the largest underground networks in the world - Christendom. It looks like a win - win situation.

After some time of testing the waters, i would like to see the twitter option on the 'Discussion comment' section also.

I spend some time on Yahoo question and answer (religion and spirituality) and would love somehow to refer them to specific personal comments on twitter that would tie them into CB discussions also - all for the purpose of giving an answer that could be looked at in more depth and with greater collaboration.

Of course the 'Search' feature on CB is useful to find an quote and link as back-up for answers there.

What i love about using CB as a reference is the clean content and environment once they get here!

Thanks for your hard work John,

bimon
