In my early days of Christian life, managing the conflicts arising between my intellectual conscience and the Spiritual conscience was a great challenge. It used to be a warfare (nightmare) that goes on between my super strong intellectual conscience and my small tiny Spiritual consience. All that my Spiriutal consience knew was "God Loves Me". It was a real challenge for me to protect my Baby Spritual conscience, from the fully grown intellectual consience. By God's Grace, He lead me into the good hands, people who guided me and help me to be stable and get a good understanding of my Spritual part. 1 Peter 2:2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,
This war happens, sometimes even till this day, but by keeping in touch with the Word of God and reading books I learnt to have some control over this warfare. I had the learnt to say "God Loves me and protects me and so I will not get into any troubles."
We cannot break theConscience, it is really an integral part of how God created us. As paul says (Acts 24:16) So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man.
Paul, though he was thoroughly trained in the law, he opened his heart and life to Christ to say (Galatians 3:11) Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because the righteous will live by faith. .
Having had a strong intellectual conscience built over the Law as its foundation, Paul was transformed to a New creation in Christ through his Faith. His consience transformed from the Intellectual ("Good / Bad", "Right / Wrong") to a conscience that glorifies God. (2 Corinthians 1:12) Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, with integrity and godly sincerity. We have done so, relying not on worldly wisdom but on God's grace.
As our intellectual concience starts growing Spiritually, the old concience of Law slowly starts fading away. Sometimes with even a small trigger the old conscience wakes up and gets authority. But always remember Love of Jesus has more authority. He has the authority forgive sins.
It is not about breaking the conscience, it is about transforming it to work according to Faith and not by law. 1 Timothy 3:9 They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. We have to build a strong conscince of Faith. (Hebrews 4:12)For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Word of God has the authority transform our conscience. Give Jesus the authority to transform.
