Historically, every time God gives a commandment why does Man fail to keep it? Does God give the commandment because He knows Man will fall?
Few years back, I kept some milk in a vessel to heat, as I was watching it to ensure that it does not spill. My Spirit said it is going to spill , even before I could do something the milk spilled (in a few seconds).
Even now, when I think about that incident, I keep wondering why I couldn't stop it. Though I knew in my Spirit that it is going to spill, it was out of my capacity to stop it. What could I have had done better? Or should I just accept it?
Going back to the Bible, when Lord gives a commandment it is like a double edged sword, it is outside our his capacity for Man to "walk by it and to face the consequences of breaking it .
Lord gave his first commandment to Adam - you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Adam could not keep the commandment by his own strength, Adam did not realize that he was weak and he needed Lord's guidance to keep commandment. The Lord knew that "Satan's plan was to make Adam eat the fruit of Knowledge and lead him to death". As a protection Lord gave the commandment. Satan is much craftier than what Adam could imagine, he came to him through his wife.
The Lord knows Satan's ways and he plans to protect His people. Though Adam's sin had cause the whole world to be wicked, Noah chose to walk as per God's commandment. So Lord commanded him to build the ark to escape from the floods. Since Noah listened to God and walked as per God's commandment he was saved.
How good is our Lord, who plans so well for us? Jesus knew that Simon Peter will fail, Jesus prayed for Peter. Jesus says to Peter in Luke 22:31-32 Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.
In John chapter 17, on the night he was betrayed, Jesus prayed for each one of us. He did not stop there; He went one step further in the plan of protection by sending us the Holy Spirit, our wonderful counselor.
Jesus gave us the commandment "Love your God and Love your Neighbor", and Jesus knew that we will not be able to keep this by our own capacity, so He gave Himself for us. So we can keep His commandment not by our strength; but by His strength. This commandment is our protection from all possible plans from Satan, which Jesus himself keeps it to protect us and lead us to Heaven.
Alleluia! A Loving God we Have! Amazing Love He has for us!
