Exodus 14:13 Moses answered the people, Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.
2 Chronicles 20:17 You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.'
Last Saturday I was so busy shifting all my things to a different apartment. I was carrying big bags and boxes up and down the stairs. I knew my Hands were carrying stuffs more than their capacity, but still God gave me the strength to do it. I was wondering, why am I doing all these, carrying all these heavy items and going through this physical burden, how is it going to make me better. Am I just wasting my time on these? But still I completed all the sifting work and I rested on Saturday.
Matthew 24:12-13 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Matthew 10:22 You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
Sunday morning I woke up, I got ready for the Mass, since I was going through the training to be a sacristan so I have to be a bit early before in the Mass. I went in and my trainer was waiting for me. I arranged all the bowls and cups required for the communion. And I carried the tray with the communion cups, as I was holding it, our Priest who was looking at me and said "yes we need some firm hands". And then I realized the way I was holding the tray was so firm that he said those to me.
Matthew 25:29 For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.
1 Corinthians 16:13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
When returning back from the mass I was thinking about what he said - "Firm Hands", true God wants my hand to be firm to serve Him. Though the tray was not as Heavy as the bags I was carrying but still I was holding the tray with the same strength as those bags. It was because I cannot drop those. In a way if I dont get used to carrying my very heavy bags, I might not be able to hold the tray as firmly as I was. Both are two differnt and completly opposite things. But I am the same. The bag was heavy, but I would not be so concerned if any of the contents fell down. But the tray was light, but I cannot let it fall down, it is sacred. I hold both the things with all my strength (firmness).
2 Corinthians 1:21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us,
1 Corinthians 15:2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
In a way, sometimes we feel that the effort we put and the pains we face in our personal lives are not related to the spiritual life. It is not so, God has given us both the responsibilities, our personal and spiritual. Unless we learn to hold our personal things so firmly, we might not get the required strength to hold the spiritual things firmly. It is the same Heart and the Body that we use the hold both. Sometimes our personal struggles helps God to mold us the way He wants us to serve Him.
1 Timothy 6:17-19 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
Colossians 2:5 For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how disciplined you are and how firm your faith in Christ is.
1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
