Few weeks back, when we wereplaying with my cousin's one yearoldson, he took his first baby steps,he walkedwithout realizing it, and then when he realized that he is walking without any support, I could see the feeling of doubt in his eyes, and he quickly moved to his father's support. But a few days later, slowly he startedto walk withconfidence. This is a normal way of growth pattern in most kids as they start to walk, run andplay. In the growing up ages, though thay keepfalling, they never stop walking or running or playing. This is the growthour physical body. We go thorough a similar growth in our spirtual being where we learn to walk in Christ with confidence.
Galatians 5:25If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
Based on my experience, the time when people learn about Christ and they accept Him as their personal savior, they are in the realization of their all spiritually fallen state. Now, the challenge is to hold on to Christ and learn to move, turn, stand, walkand work in Him.
Ephesians 5:8 For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
To move the spiritually fallen beingand to turn it to listen to the Word of God is the first step. Most of the times the beingchooses to remain in its fallen state refusing to move. This movement usually needs lots of support and we need to continuously be in touch with the Word of God. For some people, it needs lots of prayers and fasting for the Lord to open its Spiritual eyes, ears and mind.
Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Once the spiritual self learns to turn to the "Word of God",it starts to understand the Word of God, it slowlyforms its identity and realizes its sprititual abilities.Next step is to spirituallystand in the strength of the Christ. This is a difficultstep becausethere are many forces of dark which stop the spiritual being from trying to stand. They try to keep itcaptive of its old fallen nature, they don't let it stand. Itis kept being reminded of its fallen nature and it lacks the confidence to walk in Christ. But as it, continues to keepin touch with the word of God, one day without its own awareness its will start his baby stepsin Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:7For we walk by faith, not by sight.
But the minute the person realizes that heis not walking by himself, but he is walking in Spirit, now againdarkness tries to shake him with all possible doubts and questions. This is when the personrealizes the role the Holy Spirit in his life. He needs to hold-on to move as per the instructions of the Spirit.
Ephesians 5:15-16 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
Once helearns to hold on to Holy Spirit, he has to learn to walk the same path without falling. He knows all the dangers and snares that are hidden this path. He knows his own capacity, and the doubts that he has about Himself and the Satan. The challenge isto listen only to His voice and to ignore all other voices, and to trust only in Him, His everlasting and infallible love.It is like walking on the rope hanging between two poles. If you fall, you know death is waiting for you, butstill the trust that "God is not going to let us fall" "He is going to lead us right through the victory","Keep looking at His face and make the steps as per the directions of the Spirit."
Galatians 2:20I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Continuing to walk in Spiritenables usto bearthe Spiritualfruits and gifts.
Brilliant selection of verses and commentary Deepa, thank you. I like how you tied it in with the human development, and how you pointed out little kids don't dwell on their failures, just try again. And look how fast they develop as a result ... ... I will be leaving this open for a re-read, really enjoyed it.
Oh and here is a little video, with some schoolboys singing "Walk, Walk in the Light" ...
