Isa. 42:7 - To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the dungeon And those who dwell in darkness from the prison.
I need a Lord and Savior to set me free. How do you die to self and give up will? What you have only known your whole life … the 'flesh'. Christ Jesus says we only need to believe in Him to have eternal life. (John 5:24) What does it truly mean to believe??? The Greek word means to wholly entrust too. This sounds easy but it is not; what does our flesh say? If we are really, really honest we want to be our own god's.
Isa. 29:3 - "Because this people draw near with their words And honor Me with their lip service, But they remove their hearts far from Me, And their reverence for Me consists of tradition learned by rote
Rom 3:10, 11, 18 - "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; … THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES."
What a horrible place we find ourselves. It is only by the supernatural work of God through the Holy Spirit we are drawn to Christ Jesus. (John 6:44) So I sit in this muddled mess thinking myself in circles. What is really wanted is the experience people talk about saying they know their born again. The Spirit bears witness in their spirit. They work really hard and show 'fruit.'
So who can set this prisoner free?
"To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover the prisoner was you." - (Corrie ten Boom)
Jesus came to set the captive free and Who the Son sets free is free indeed… to forgive. (Luke 4:18, John 8:36) Are we really willing to give up idolatry of self-love and self-pity? It is such a lonely road to travel. Christ Jesus the Lord says to come to Him and draw near while He may be found. Throw ourselves on Christ while able and be broken into pieces. Lest, when this life is over Christ falls on us, shattering to dust. (Matt. 21:44)
For: Matt. 11:28 - 30 "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
I have not heard that song before. It's beautiful and that is my prayer as well.
Reading your blog caused me to think about Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. He received forgiveness and grace from the priest and yet immediately turned around and stole from a child. Immediately his eyes were opened to his true state and he acknowledges his wretchedness. Paul utters the same cry in Romans 7:24 and then... declares Romans 8:1! Acknowledge, receive... and believe.
Thank you K. for reminding me of Les Miserables. Seeing the true sin nature of our hearts is not a pretty site or something we really want ... but do need to be revealed and broken by the power of the Holy Spirit. Really hard but needed! Blessings in Christ, Les
Les, where have you been. Welcome back a thousand times over .
