It Wasn't Supposed To Be This Way

Psa. 103:3 - "Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases" (NASB)

Does the Lord heal all our diseases? Yes and no and yes. Walking through grief the past weeks with degenerating health mentally and physically watching every facet of earthly life crumble, decay, and continue to fade away. Knowing many on this sight face life threating illness on a daily basis as do many around the world it seemed selfish. Stll, during growing years teaching became ingrained though now never intellectually subscribing too, commit your life to Christ and choose His ways- all will be well. I suppose Paul, the rest of the Apostles, and over 50,000 Christian "political prisoners" in North Korea did not get the health - wealth teaching memo. How our Lord Jesus turns "pity parties" into Kingdom lessons.

Does God heal ALL my diseases? Yes. If there is sickness or infirmity brought to restoration, it is accomplished only by the hand of God. Whether through Divine intervention or the use of trained medical professionals, Christ Jesus is the healer. No, if insisting of physical or mental "healing" in every circumstance rather than apprehending Kingdom wholeness in an instance is spiritual welling out His eternal life. Then demand to be as Moses and ascend the mountian to lay with my fathers' full of life and vigor at 120. Suffering a cold or facing life threating cancer, if not touched and having to walk through either am I healed? Yes.

In each, I am called to share in the sufferings of Christ to produce His character in me while allowing the world to see the Lord Jesus. Though one may be distress for 7 -10 days and the other take my earthly life. My healing is guaranteed. Beholding Him face to face I shall be as Christ clothed in a new body with no more tears, pain, crying, or suffering. This is 'icing on the cake" to merely being in The Lord's presence.

With medication so out of balance, inquiries were made of an inpatient emotional and mental treatment facility. Contending with arthritis in neck and back from 3 auto accidents hit from behind. Then seeing an orthopedic surgeon for complications appearing from wrist surgery in 1980. Now faced with eventuality of carpel tunnel surgery and if unsuccessful, fusing bones of the wrist. The hand left tilted at a 10% angle without movement except fingers.

There is no desire to bring you to boredom listing my aliments. I know each of your bear much. What is the point of mentioning then? I would be dishonest to say in seeing other Christians sail through life up to the end with health, wealth, and prosperity and not admit thinking, "Lord what about them"? Yes God's reply is the same as too Peter of John. Not my concern and to share in the sufferings of Christ to yield life giving fruit for others.

During my complaints over the four decades of chronic illness, I stated the obvious. A day shall soon come where I face mortal illness, others pray and there may be a time of restoration. However, one day the "gig" on earth is done. God directed me to be thankful and glad as I pass through the waters entering true peace and rest in Christ.

Until then the Lord commanded me not to try and find HIS scripture(s) verses to use in attempting to "twist" His arm to do as I want. Instead God desires thanks and praise of Psalm 147 for He is worthy and:

  • He heals my broken heart and binds my wounds. (verse 3)
  • Billions of galaxies with billions of stars - each God knows by name. How awesome is He! (verse 4)
  • The Lord is my strength even when afflicted. (verse 6)
  • The Majestic One rules creation causing growth, rain, and food to eat. (verse 8, 9)
  • The Lord God delights in those who fear Him in Christ providing them peace. (verse 11, 14)

In all this mindfulness is maintained Satan realizes his greatest weapon to separate me from Christ is not the loss of possessions and even loved ones (Job 1). Rather:

Job 2: 3 - 5 "The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds fast his integrity, although you incited Me against him to ruin him without cause.” Satan answered the Lord and said, “Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life. However, put forth Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh; he will curse You to Your face.” (NASB)

How thankful in the midst of suffering and trials God in Christ Jesus still holds, sustains, and maintains my life. Do I understand why circumstances are not "better" or different in this earthly realm? No. Does it matter? No, only God's Kingdom work of transformation and renewing becoming as Christ. The answers may be revealed or not on earth or in heaven. Only the achievement of The Lord's Kingdom purposes matter and remain forever.

Reflecting on Psalm 147, the Lord greatly blessed my heart these past weeks. The garage door was open in the city which we live. A hummingbird flew in and magnificently displayed the glory and beauty to the praise of our Creator! (Seen rarely and are scientifically not supposed to fly) As it zoomed away a clear message was delivered. God in Christ is watching, caring, loving, and blessing even during great despair. The only answer why ... because of Who God is and does. He is love.

If facing your gigantic time of trial, strife, struggle, loneliness, suffering, etc. Sing your praise to the Lord! God has you right where He wants you ... in the palm of His hand.

John 6: 38 - 39 "For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day." (NASB)

Over the past few weeks, I have been standing with a friend whose husband was diagnosed with dementia nearly four years ago. The disease progressed rapidly and within a few months for his safety as well as the safety of my friend and their daughter, he had to be placed in a facility where he could receive 24 hour care. Through all of this, she has trusted God for his healing. He no longer responds much to the world around him. He rarely utters a sound, focuses only briefly if someone speaks to him and does not do so very often, can no longer walk as he always falls down like a child trying to take their first steps and so forth. My friend continues to trust God.

He was hospitalized yet again a few weeks ago due to his paper-thin skin one of his feet opening and developing a wound that is not healing. Despite all of their efforts, it developed into a staph infection and now it has reached the point that antibiotics are useless. He simply cannot fight this infection nor can man. My friend continues to trust God.

Last week, I sat beside her in a meeting in which they explained to my friend the status of her husband. He is dying and there is nothing that they can do about it except to try to make him as comfortable as they possibly can during the weeks that he has left in this world. Yesterday she signed the papers for hospice and she continues to trust God.

My friend has come to learn something in all of this. She has learned to trust God regardless of the outcome. She might not understand the reason why God does or does not do something a certain way but she can trust Him, Les. She can trust that all His ways are good, even when her heart is breaking, even in the midst of suffering.

How could anyone ever accuse my friend of lacking in faith as she continues to cling to God no matter what? That is a completely mystery to me! You see, I believe that it takes even more faith to continue to trust God in the face of sorrow and suffering than it does to be delivered. It is a faith that is based on God as opposed to what God does and it is willing to remain matter what!

I thought Today's Bible Verse at the Home Page was so fitting for your blog. It is from Proverbs 2:10-11:

"For wisdom will enter your heart And knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; Discretion will guard you, and understanding will watch over you." (New American Standard Bible)

It is obvious from reading your content, Les, that God has indeed allowed "wisdom" to enter your heart and that despite the physical and emotional trials you experience, "knowledge" represents the pleasantness of your soul; "discretion" has guarded you and "understanding" has watched over you -- just as the verse above reads.

Thank you for sharing this. I SO loved what you shared with us about the hummingbird. How lovely!

This is a remarkable and unforgettable blog and truly inspired from the Holy Spirit to glorify God. I praise the Lord with you for all that He is doing in your life and for how He is helping you to share these golden treasures with us.

God bless!

This blog is testament that God hears and understands our prayers and his presence never leaves those who trust in his word.
It is wonderful to read a blog written by a faithful servant.
