Love Like God The Power Of The Cross (Conclusion)

I John 4: 9, 10 – “ In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (NASB)

To complete the topic of Loving Like God. It seemed right to look at what He has done for us. Spurring on to works of love and good deeds by His Spirit's power. This list is most likely familiar, all the gifts God provided in Christ's work on the cross. Continuing from resurrection to this very day.

Contemplating before the Lord why He placed the items to write on my heart, a great sense of His gifting allowing the Holy Spirit to use for you and I as desired. The list is lengthy and presented for you to reference and deliberate as God directs. If you have read much of my writing, you know I dislike the ion's. However, the Lord has directed placement before me and you.

God's love in Christ's shed blood on the cross we have:

1. Justification to God through removal of the penalty of sin (eternal separation).

Rom. 5:1 – “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (NASB)

2. Reconciliation with God, our sin is no, longer counted against us towards Him.

II Cor. 5:19 – “namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation” (NASB)

3. Propitiation of sin by His Son accepting God's perfect and holy wrath in our place.

Rom. 3:25 – “whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed” (NASB)

4. Expatiation or substitution taking our sin, disease, and sickness on Himself.

I Pet. 2:24 – “and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed” (NASB) (Also Rom. 5:6)

5. A New Everlasting Covenant is established to destroy the law separating man from God.

Col. 2:14 – “having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross” (NASB)

6. Been found in Him, seated in heavenly places.

Eph. 2:5,6 – “when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ - by grace you have been saved - and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (NASB)

7. Become a royal priesthood through Jesus our Lord and Savior.

I Pet. 2:9 – “But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (NASB)

8.. Nullification of all accusations from Satan forever.

Rev 12:10 – “Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night.” (NASB)

9. The Holy Spirit living in us.

Rom. 8:11 – “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” (NASB)

10. The Spirit of truth teaching and guiding us step by step.

John 16:13 – “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.” (NASB)

How does this work of Christ relate to “Loving Like God?” In everything! God's indwelling Spirit is given through Christ's blood, death, and resurrection on the cross. All done for our sake, how can we not allow God's unconditional agape love to be lived out through us? We are now empowered in Him to do so.

In refusing, we toss in God's face grace extended in Christ. Our call is God's love shown to Him, the body, and world in our lives. In doing this we glorify, magnifiy, honor, and worship the Holy One as due. All begins and ends and shall be returned to the God of creation. To Him be praise now and forever more. Peace and grace to you in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

I John 3:16 – “We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” (NASB)
