When A Big Truck Takes Your Lane

So, yesterday morning, I was driving along my normal 37-mile route going to work, just singing along with DC Talk, praising God about being a "Jesus Freak", when the lane I was driving in all of a sudden seemed way over-crowded. Before my very eyes the extremely big tractor-trailer that had been in the other lane next to me (notice I said "had") decided he was going to use my lane, with me still IN IT. And I've seen enough wrecks in my life to know that most little cars can't win a "lane war" with a tractor-trailer. I laid down on my horn, my little car basically yelling at him, "HEY! I'm over here! Get back over in your lane!" The tractor-trailer must have had his ear plugs in his exhaust stacks, for he just kept on taking my lane. So, an accident was imminent, for I had nowhere to go but into the tractor-trailer or down the embankment on my right. When, right before my eyes appears a "turn lane", allowing me to swerve over in the "nick" of time to avoid being mushed by this deaf tractor-trailer. And no, there is no such thing as coincidence. God had orchestrated our speeds in such a manner as to provide that much-needed turn lane at the exact right time for me to avoid becoming another highway statistic. As I was praising God for providing that window of life-saving opportunity (and letting my nerves calm down), I began to think about how many times a day the devil decides that he wants to take over "our lane" that we're traveling in life, and how God provides us an escape route, but we've got to be alert enough to see it and act upon it. You see, if I'd been too wrapped up in railing at the truck driver for trying to hijack my lane, then I wouldn't have been able to see God's escape route. When the devil tries to plague us, perhaps instead of bemoaning the situation of trial and pain, we need to have our eyes peeled for the path to praise that God is sure to provide. That's what I learned from this, and how I believe God showed me that He will always provide me with just what I need, just at the right time, every single time. Thank You, Father God, for being Who You Are. YSIC, Virginia

Praise God for keeping you safe V, and for the lessons you have taken from this horrible experience. Thank you for sharing.

And yet, how often do I spend my time railing against the injustice of it all, rather than looking for a way to Praise God!

Great blog, sweetie.

Praise God, that you averted becoming a motorway statistic, V.

Great blog, and thanks for the reminder of just how wily satan is.
