I know you can't wait to hear about the thorny ground, and I also can't stop myself from sharing because they are bubbling inside of me, so hang on to your seats:
By now, you must be already jumping in your seats about the ground with thorns, and screaming to me, “yes I know what the ground of thorns is!” This ground however, is very interesting, because for quite sometime, I’ve been trying to understand what the ground of thorns actually mean. By now, you’ll probably be telling me, it is written that “the ground with thorns is a life full of frets and worries, preoccupation and cares, that has no time for the God’s Word”. I agree that it is. But with Psalms 1:1, we’ll gonna see a fuller picture of the ground with thorns and what they mean. My question is: How did the thorns get in there? Who sow the thorns? It’s pretty amazing because: sitting in the seat of the scornful, is a heart of thorns. And Jesus bore a crown of thorns – wow lol… What an amazing truth that is. Thorns in the the mind is because of thorns in the heart. Thorns may pr*ck because of a heart filled with roses; A life that looks all rosy on the outside but has thorns in the inside, the hidden and most filthy and ugly things in life is the personal lifestyle, isn’t it? Aren’t you glad you are not alone on this one? XD… ok. So what are thorns? Strong emotions of: Bitterness, resentment, anguish, discouragement, disappointment, rejection felt in the heart is a constant generator of thorns in the mind of thoughts. Who sow them? It’s the people most dearest to us: family and friends. Yes it is. Jesus was rejected by His own beloved people. The thorns are sown from people who wants to break up couples and destroy a family, sow what? A seed of discord, a misunderstanding, and then thorns grows from seeds of discord.
These thorns also comes in from daily worries and cares, a thorn in the mind, which Christ Jesus bore on the cross, a crown of thorns. He sweat drops of blood to redeem man from the curse of the ground. Indeed, worries and cares grow and suffocate the seed, because they take a large room in the heart and mind, and thus the seed cannot grow at all, because of the preoccupation of time. To Paul, a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to keep Paul from being conceited because Paul wanted to boast of His ministry which Christ has chosen him for - to be an apostle and minister to the Gentiles, yet as the movie from Salt Media presents “Paul Apostle of Christ”, Paul was constantly haunted by memories of himself leading the Pharisees in persecuting the church. Because of this constant reminder, it stopped him from boasting in how “great Paul has win souls for Jesus” so that he counted all that he had done as dung (sh*t) and that he was the worst of all sinners, not even worthy to be called an apostle, yet, to me Paul not with wise words but with great fear and trembling, where did he get such boldness to proclaim the gospel to the Gentiles! My heart is really wanting to have such a boldness that not even the fear of shame or pain or guilt or death can stop me from proclaiming the gospel to anyone and everyone. Who doesn’t want that? Boldness.
Everyone even from a believer down to an unbeliever has thorns, they like hurting other people like pocking each other’s eyes in social media, mocking one another, a bystander who loves sick entertainment watching people get trampled upon, toxic comments, gossips, it never ends because it gives an unusual ego to have sick pleasure on others pain especially when one can go about that as anonymous on the internet. But again, thorns are strongholds: gaming addictions (I am guilty of it), p*rno (which many men and women are victims of, including me previously, delivered from by the grace of God), gossips, mocking people, being a bystander and not going forth and picking up the broken hearted people and comfort and love them and protect them, even down to the meaningless and mundane working habits of rush hours, lunch hours. These thorns are unbelief that actually hurt the conscience don’t they? If you sin, your conscience is the one that always feels the pain. It is a vicious cycle of painful emotions that actually terminates seed germination and encourages these strongholds to grow and thrive. Financial worry, probably they say stress, but I say that it is unbelief on the God that provides. Remember Abraham? A great testimony because Abraham actually believe that God will provide for Himself a sacrifice, and indeed while he was about to plunge the dagger into his own son, the angel stopped him and said, “Do not lay your hand on your son. Behold a ram with horns caught in a thicket”. God revealed Himself to Abraham as The Lord will provide! Abraham was awe in seeing into the future: God Himself will provide a lamb spotless and without blemish, His only Son for what? Provision (food) and forgiveness (remission of our sins). “I am the bread of life. Only He that eats of my flesh and drinks of my blood will surely live!” The Lord prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies. Indeed, in Revelation, during the marriage supper of the lamb, the abomination of desolations are on the earth, until they are placed under the feet of Jesus as a footstool, meanwhile: let’s eat. This is how you overcome the unbelief of financial worry, give thanks for whatever little you have, and watch the Lord provide. Eat in Faith.
Tithe and offerings is thanksgiving expressed from the Lord revealing Himself as the Provider, and experiencing His flow of grace in the area of finances and provision. “Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow nor reap or store away in barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you more valuable than them?” The Father fed His people in the wilderness and even Jesus has such great love to know what we need, to have our portion of fill, fed 5000 men not counting women and children. Have faith, because your Father really has such love to provide, “for what father when his son asks for bread, he would give him a stone, or when his son asks for a fish, he would give him a snake? If you being evil know how to give good things to your children, how much more our heavenly Father who will freely give to those who? Ask Him” Amen and amen! Unbelief stops fathers from being like a son to ask the heavenly Father for daily provision even for his family. There’s a lot more I want to cover about Abraham especially his 318 footmen that went to rescue Lot from the kings of the first world war, and had Melchezidek came to him with bread and wine. But I will save that for a later time. The 7 letters to the 7 churches is in fact addressing to them because of thorny ground.
