He came to CB in October 2007 with the username of "Blessings2you". I had arrived at CB a couple of months earlier so I am one of the few members who remembers his arrival. I do not believe there has ever been a single member who has had more of an impact. No one has come close to publishing as many blogs. To the best of my knowledge, no one has personally met more CB members.
He not only wrote blogs, he faithfully contributed to CB financially and was responsible for helping it whether the most difficult of times. He was not a rich man in terms of the riches of this world but he was rich in the things that mattered and he was a man who not only gave, he loved to give whenever he saw a need.
Kirk was a friend to me and my husband but he was so much more. He was like a brother... a "brother-friend". In this life, we may have many friends but "brother/sister-friends" are usually few and far between. These are the people who expect you to call them at 2:00 a.m. if you are in trouble. They are the sort of friends who would give you their last piece of bread if necessary and insist on going without because they thought you needed it more. They love you enough to tell you when you are wrong, when you need to straighten up and get your act together and yet stand beside you and fight for you to the bitter end. Though you may be separated by distance, you know they are always there for you!
Over the next few days, I will be posting some additional blogs reflecting on the man who was a dear friend and brother to a number of us here at CB. He will be deeply missed. His wife Beth (Beth M (@blest)) has also been such a blessing to CB members and she needs our prayers, our support and our love. She, like her beloved husband, has always tried to support members who are hurting and now it is time for us to reach out and support her. We are family and we must never forget that.
I had planned to write more but I can't at the moment. I am rejoicing that Kirk is safe with Christ but... my heart is heavy with grief over the loss of a dear brother and friend and it goes out to my dear sister and friend, his wife Beth.
There really are no words to express the depth and import of the loss of our brother. I too remember when he first signed on and how he changed CB with his wisdom and prolific blog posts. I remember the blog about the celebration at the ranch and how much fun that was.
My heartfelt condolences to everyone in the CB family, especially those closest to him, as I know you are, KPrincess.
I am in shock -my heart is broken but I know the Angels are rejoicing as they welcome Kirk and the Lord has his Great feathered wings wrapped around our sweet little Beth as she faces her loss and all that she has to do.
Wonderful blog. The one member on C.B. who chose the most appropriate name - it is truely who and what he was; a blessing.
Thank you K.
To Beth. You and Dave. God comfort and hold you close. The assurance you are Loved.
I have no more words.
