A Few Promises To Remember

This morning I came across a notation I had scribbled on a study note in my Bible written by Jill Briscoe. As I read this once again, I thought I would post them for it just might be that someone else needs to be reminded of these promises, just like me.

Promises of God

1. Sin need not control us again.

But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christisin you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Romans 8:9-11 (NKJV)

2. We need not be afraid again.

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 14:27 (NKJV)

3. His peace guards our hearts and minds.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV)

4. We need not be ignorant of His will.

Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.

Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)

5. We need never again be defeated Christians.

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Romans 8:37 (NKJV)

The enemy will attemptto fill our minds with fear, doubt and uncertainty causing us to struggle and be ineffective as Christians. In order to combat these attacks, we must take steps to be clothed in the full armor of God.

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints -

Ephesians 6:11-18 (NKJV)

We must not only read but commit to memory what God has said and... believe it. This is the only way to combat the enemy; firmly stand upon God's Word, declare it and believe it. Yes, sometimes it may be difficult to have faith but...

... faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

God has given us what we need to combat the enemy and live a victorious life in Christ. It is up to us to use what He has given us. Are we?
