It had been a gloomy, dreary day and I was tired of it. The summer had been usually wet and it seemed like I had seen the clouds far more than I had seen the sun. I'm not used to that as the summers where I live tend to be more on the dry side with lots of sunshine. Not this year.
I was just commenting about this to my husband when suddenly I saw a hole in the clouds. I let out a gasp and on an impluse, I grabbed my phone and snapped a picture.
The sky did not clear. In fact, eventually the clouds filled in the hole and raindrops fell once again but for a moment I could see what lay beyond the clouds. Though it had been hidden from my view, the sun was still shining. I just couldn't always see it.
I thought about the days, weeks and even years when I would desperately attempt to catch a glimpse of God and couldn't. I could see nothing but storm. This is the time when we simply need to stay on course and walk by faith rather than by sight. We must remember that though we may not see God, He sees us and He hears our every cry.
"Father-God, I know you are with us every step of the way. You love us, care for us and will bring us through the fiercest of storms. However, please remember that we are children. We want to trust you but sometimes we get tired, discouraged and afraid. Please give us a glimpse beyond the clouds, even if it is just for a moment so that we might be strengthened and encouraged to persevere and trust in you, no matter what."
How true. Wonderful blog and great reminder
Aye , welcome to my world of Irish summers
