Resolutions. Some of us make them and faithfully carry them out. Others of us break them within seconds of making them. Still others don't even bother to make them. I'm afraid I usually fall into the last category.
Some common New Years resolutions here in the United States is to lose weight and exercise more. They may often start out well but most will falter pretty quickly. What was the problem? Lack of commitment. They may have talked about wanting to lose 20 pounds (or more). They may have even enrolled in a weight-loss program, signed up at a gym, bought "diet" food and perhaps even purchased clothing in their desired size in anticipation of their "new look". It is not enough to dream about it, talk about it or even prepare to do it. You must be committed to stick with it for the long-haul.
How often have we made resolutions in regards to our Christian walk only to break them?
Let us start out this year right. Let us come before God and commit ourselves to Him. Let us lay down our will and take up His. Let us ask Him to help us not to live for ourselves but to live for Him.
In 2011, may my life... may your life... may all of our lives... be a prayer to Him.
