In the early morning, I am contemplating these words.
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
I don't know about you, but I often find that I don't do the "be still" part very well. I get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life. I want to try to "fix" things myself. I cry out to God when I am hurting but zoom off a quick prayer to Him when I am not for you know... life gets busy and there are things to do. Things more important than God? No, nothing is more important than God so why do we often shove Him into second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth... place?
We need to take these words very seriously. Yes, we can bring our petitions before the Lord but is that the only time He ever sees us? When we want something?
We may be mumbling to ourselves, "Oh no, I am not like that, I meet with Him everyday." Good but let me ask you, why do you do so? Is it because you love to simply be with God or is it for other reasons?
Oh may we long to be with God not because of what He does for us, not simply because we are in trouble, not simply because we wish to "earn brownie points" with him but simply because... we love Him!
Be still and know that He is God.
