You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said. Luke 1:45 (NLT)
The words quoted above were uttered by Elizabeth when she heard her cousin Mary's greeting. Mary had not even shared the good news with her yet but at the sound of her voice, Elizabeth's unborn child, who would become known as John the Baptist, leaped within her and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
While we know these words were true for Mary, do you know these words are true for all those who believe God as well?
Think about it.
God's Word tells us to "believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household. Acts 16:31 (NLT)
Do you believe? Then you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.
I remember when the last part of thatscripture was first pointed out to me. It was January 1977 and I was at a youth retreat in the middle of a Minnesota Winter. I was 16 years old and my father had been battling colon cancer for more than a year. He was not a Christian. Of course I wanted him healed but I wanted his salvation even more.
One night, during the retreat, my youth pastor approached me, quoted this verse and asked me if I believed it. When I heard these words, I was filled with great joy! Oh, I did believe them! I didn't know when but from that moment on I knew that my father would be saved. Why? Because God had promised that if I believed in the Lord Jesus and I did, not only would I be saved but "my household" would be saved as well.
Eight months later, while awaiting an emergency surgery, my father came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and stepped from death into life. He spent the next three weeks of his life lying in a hospital room with an unhealed incision from his chest to his lower abdomen declaring to everyone who entered hisroom what Jesus Christ had done and what he could do for them.
Then my father stepped from dying into life... eternal life.
I lost my earthly father far too early but I am blessed in that I will see him once again. I have members of my family that need to be saved. I have members of my family that are "sitting on the fence" so to speak in a lukewarm state and I am believing in God's promise, whether I see the fulfillment of it at this moment, or not. I believe.
God's Word says: "And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19 (NLT)
Do you believe? Then you can be confident that God will take care of you and supply all your needs. These needs are just not physical needs. They are emotional and spiritual needs as well. For more than 50 years, I have experienced the provision of God in all of these areas and I have not just seen it happen in the normal, expected manner. I have witnessedthe miraculous take place.
God's Word says: "He forgives all my sinsand heals all my diseases." Psalm 103:3 (NLT)
Do you believe? Then you know that all means all. God does not just heal us physically. He also heals us emotionally and spiritually as well.
Because we believe, God does not merely give to us, he gives to us abundantly according to his glorious riches. We too are blessed because we believe God.
