Currently, I am reading the Gospel of Luke. Today as I was reading the 11th chapter of Luke these verses leaped out at me:
"Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness. If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light.” Luke 11:35-36
What this tells me is that it is possible to believe you have light but in reality what you actually have... is darkness.
I've been thinking about these words all morning. Is the light I have truly light or is it darkness? I fear that many who profess to follow Christ are not following His light rather they are in actuality following darkness which is trying to present itself as light. Paul warns us about this in 2 Corinthians.
These people are false apostles. They are deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ. But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no wonder that his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. In the end they will get the punishment their wicked deeds deserve.- 2 Corinthians 11: 13-15 (NLT)
We've got to check our light, not once in awhile but daily and make sure that it is directed into all of those dark corners of our heart. Then our whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling us with light. Not our own light but His light, the Light of the Word which is Jesus Christ.
