A few years ago, a cousin of mine was at the Mayo Clinic being treated for a rare brain disease which would cause her to have strokes. She truly was and continues to be an inspiration to me as a woman who trusts God even when her world has crumbled around her.
One time she told me that in dealing with her illness, she realized she had a choice to make. Was she going to be "self-centered" or "Christ-centered"? She has chosen to be Christ-centered.
What does this mean? When we are Christ-centered our focus is on Christ rather than ourselves. When our focus is on Christ and off of ourselves, we find we are able to face the difficult things as well as the good. We are not focused on our circumstances rather we are focused on Christ. This enables us to truly be able to say, "Not my will, but Thine". We are able to say like Job, in any situation, "Blessed be the name of the Lord."
"self-centered" or "Christ-centered"
A choice that each of of us has to make and what ever our circumstances, we need to choose wisely. Actually, come to think of it, it is a 'no-brainer'!
