Do We Really Want To Be Where Jesus Is?

There's a very nice song by Don Moen which we used to sing a church a number of years go. The lyrics are:

I just want to be where You are,
dwelling daily in Your presence
I don't want to worship from afar,
draw me near to where You are

I just want to be where You are,
in Your dwelling place forever
Take me to the place where You are,
I just want to be with You

I want to be where You are,
dwelling in Your presence
Feasting at Your table,
surrounded by Your glory
In Your presence,
that's where I always want to be
I just want to be,
I just want to be with You

I just want to be where You are,
to enter boldly in Your presence
I don't want to worship from afar,
draw me near to where You are

Oh, my God,
You are my strength and my song
And when I'm in Your presence
Though I'm weak You're always strong

Oh it is a glorious thing to be in the presence of the Lord, isn't it! When we are with others, everyone smiles, wraps their arms around one another, perhaps sheds a tear or two and is reluctant to leave. There is nothing wrong with that. It is wonderful to be praising God and feel like you are in the Throne Room worshiping Him.

However, is this the only place God is? Do we just want to be with Him when He is in the Throne Room or will we follow Him wherever He goes?

Do we want to be with Him when He enters a smelly building and leans over a drug addict? Do we want to stand with Him down at the shelter? Do we want to slip into a hospital room with him, follow Him over to the nursing home or go over to the local prison?

Are we willing to stay up all night, sitting beside Him as He ministers to someone who is broken-hearted, lonely and afraid? Or will we yawn, stretch and tell Him that we will see Him in the morning?

Do we really want to follow Him wherever He goes or do we just want to follow Him to where we want to go?

Blessings!

I just got tested with this on a 9 day road trip! Will we be with Him among the homeless? Or among those getting out of prison! And so on-people of all walks of life, without being chosey! Very insightful message Sister K and God Bless you richly! Dave

it's a very good question? Do we really want to be with Jesus? Thanks for this blog. The question is worth reflecting upon thank you.
