* Note: This blog is part of a series called Even In The Valley Of The Shadow Of Death.
As I reflect upon my cancer journey in 2007-2008, I recalled something a friend of mine told me in December 2007. Sure enough, I found that quote in an old blog of mine which was written in December 2007.
Sometimes God's hand goes this way. Sometimes it goes that way. What you want to do is just make sure you're in his hand.
The woman who told me this, had been healed of breast cancer a number of years earlier. The tumor was simply gone. Praise God! However, her husband had died of cancer just a few years back. It was the same people praying, people who had watched God move miraculously in the healing of my friend and they were trusting God would do the same this time. Only...while God did move miraculously, He did it a different way this time.
We want to place God in a box and dictate to Him the hows, the whys and the whens. Who are we to question God?
Then Job replied to the Lord:
"I know that you can do anything, and no one can stop you.
you asked, 'Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorance?'
It is I--and I was talking about things I knew nothing about, things far too wonderful for me.
You said, 'Listen and I will speak! I have some questions for you, and you must answer them.'
I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes.
I take back everything I said, and I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance."
Job 42:1-6 (NLT)
We say that we want to follow Jesus, but are we willing to follow Him wherever He leads...even if it is through the Valley of the Shadow of Death?
