This evening I read these words:
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
2 Peter 1:3-4 (NLT)
Yet how many times have we heard ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ or even ourselves claim that it is impossible for us to live a godly life as long as we are living in this world. We make excuses for our ungodly behavior by saying, "I'm a sinner saved by grace" thereby excusing sin in our lives and yet God's Word declares that God has given us everything we need to live a godly life.
Someone is wrong and it isn't God. If God says that by His divine power He has given us everything we need to live a godly life than He has given us everything we need to live a godly life. If we are not living a godly life, it is not because God has not given us the means to do so. It is because we choose to walk after the flesh rather than after the Spirit.
"But I can't!"
Yes, you can. That is a lie from the enemy and we need to stop listening to what the enemy says. Instead we need to listen to what God says. Instead of making excuses for ourselves, we must stand upon God's promises daily ask the Holy Spirit to teach us and help us to live a godly life that is pleasing and acceptable to God. We must ask God to help us be a true witness, and an ambassador of Jesus Christ.
God has given us what we need to do this. The question is are we utilizing what He has given us or are we making excuses?

K, Excellent word and so very true ... God has provided all I need to live a godly life. If I do not, it is my choice to walk my way. Sobering, true and well timed blog. In Him, Les
Good blog - but we need to ask What is a godly life? eh.
Hie; that was a good answer. Thank you and I enjoyed your last few sentences of pressing into God and seeking his def. of godliness. For it is certainly not pious duty.
