Over the course of my life, there have been countless times when I have been uncertain, fearful or just simply did not feel like I had the strength to persevere. Due to serious health issues over the past few years, I have felt even more vulnerable than ever. In my case, it has been health but we all get blindsided by something unpleasant at one time or another over the course of our life. We live in a fallen world which means bad things sometimes will indeed happen.
While we may be pilgrims traveling in a dark and often dangerous world, we do not travel alone. Indeed, while we often may not be aware of it, we are being carried! We are being carried in God's loving arms!
I never knew what it was like to have an adult to adult relationship with my dad. I was 14 years old when he was diagnosed with cancer and he passed away two years later. I do, however, vividly remember the father-daughter relationship which we had. I know that when I was with my dad, I felt protected and safe. In fact, on the day he passed away I felt so very stripped, vulnerable and afraid. That was also the day I began to understand that "Our Father which art in Heaven" was not mere words. This is the type of relationship God desires to have with us.
No matter how high the waves get or how fierce the wind blows, they have no power over One who carries us. Never forget, God carries us in His arms.
