God Is Still Bigger!

Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you. Deuteronomy 31:8 (NLT)

Yesterday I received an invitation from one of my cousins. She is going to be awarded an associate of arts degree in May and it was an invitation to her graduation. Though she lives about 250 miles away from us, my mother and I are making plans to go. We would not miss this graduation for the world because you see, we understand what a struggle it was for Diane to reach this goal. My cousin has moyamoya. You can learn more about this disease at

While this disease usually strikes children, it can also afflict adults. My cousin was in her early 40's when she had her first stroke and proper treatment was delayed due to being misdiagnosed with MS. She would eventually suffer multiple strokes and be airlifted to hospitals several times, including to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where she finally receive not only the correct diagnosis but the proper treatment as well.

While her brain surgeries have been successful in stopping the strokes, she did sustain damage from them. She does not live on her own and resides with her son and daughter-in-law. She also no longer drives. Though she has gradually shown improvement in her motor skills as well as her speech, the residual effects of her strokes are still apparent. As a result it has taken her years to complete the requirements for her AA. The major obstacle for her was a basic math course which she failed over and over again. The community college graciously let her take the course over and over again until at last, she passed.

On September 3, 2007 I published a blog here at CB about my cousin which is entitled God Is Bigger. Once again she has reminded me that God truly is "bigger" than any obstacle we may face. Through the years, God has proven Himself again and again and He always will. God is bigger!
