God Is The God Of Hope!

In Greek mythology, there is a story told of how Pandora, the first woman, opens a box which scatters evil and pestilence all over the earth. Terrified and heart-broken, she notices one more thing in the box. It's name was Hope.

Whenever I hear this story, I think about Adam and Eve after the fall. They try to hide themselves from God but of course, that is impossible. First God curses the serpent. Then he immediately gives the gift of hope to Adam and Eve. He gives the promise of redemption. Have you ever noticed God extends hope before the curse is issued upon humanity? I didn't until now. God gave us hope even as we fell and the enemy has been trying to take that from us ever since.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 3:15
I love this verse! It reminds me who God is. He is the God of hope! He will fill me with all joy and peace as I trust in him. Why? So that I will overflow with hope! How will this be accomplished? By the power of the Holy Spirit.

This is how we can have hope even when we are in the darkest pit imaginable. This is how we can have hope when we are afraid or surrounded by grief. This is how we can have hope in the face of hopelessness. We have been redeemed by the God of hope! We are his own dear little children! He dwells with us and within us and we are empowered by the Holy Spirit!

The enemy will try to make us believe that we are hopeless. We may feel like we're trapped in a pit of despair. We may see nothing but the waves and the darkness. That's why we need to take the words of Romans 3:15 and clench them, yes clench them, tightly in our hand and hold onto them no matter what.

Remember, whatever you do, don't let go!
