Whether we want to believe it or not, we live in a fallen world which is filled with darkness. This means that even as Christians we will encounter evil and darkness. Through Christ (as opposed to through ourselves), it has no power to overcome us but that does not mean we will not face it. Many Christians believe/are told that when they become Christians they will never face trouble again. I believe nothing can be further from the truth. Indeed, those of us who walk in the Light are even more aware of the darkness simply because we can more clearly see it.
As we follow Christ, the path may lead down some pretty dark roads at times. When it does, we are tempted to tell Him this is the wrong way, He must have taken a wrong turn somewhere. This doesn't look right! Sometimes... we may even accuse Him of misleading us on purpose! We may even call Him a liar!
Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. Proverbs 3:5 (AMP) Sometimes this is easier said than done but we must do it. We are not God. We do not see what He sees. We do not know what He knows. When our faith struggles, denying that it is struggling does us no good. Instead we must cry out to Him; "I do believe; help my unbelief." (Mark 9:24b NASB)
In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths. Proverbs 3:6 (AMP)
We do not need to know the hows and whys. We need to know HIM! We must cling to Him no matter how fierce the storm is, no matter how dark the path is. We must cling to Him though all the world calls us a fool and our friends and family abandon us.
Regardless of the path we are on, we must never forget His promises. We must never forget that He will not abandon us and that in the end... we will find that the path which was so terrible and dark has led us to a place more wonderful and beautiful than we could have ever imagined.
Let us resolve within our hearts that by the mercy and grace of God we will trust Him... no matter what!
