As we walk upon the "King's Highway", we must remember that He does the leading and we do the following. It is not the other way around. If we are not careful, we may find ourselves wandering off God's Path and following our own simply because we have decided how God is going to do things. Any deviation from our plan can't possibly be of God, we tell ourselves.
I cannot help but think of examples in the Bible. Joseph's dream does eventually come to pass but look at the route God took him on to reach that final destination? He was sold into slavery by his brothers, rose up in the household of Potipher, gets accused of rape and gets thrown back into prison. All this had to take place before he was elevated to the position of being second only to Pharaoh.
Look at Gideon. Instead of increasing his army, God decreases it. In all honesty, is that what you would have expected God to do? Probably not. Nowadays, if this were to happen, Gideon would be bombarded with people telling him he could not possibly be following God.
David's father-in-law (Saul) tries to murder him. When David escapes, Saul sends out posses to look for him. Moses is in the wilderness for 40 years after fleeing the scene of a murder. Interestingly enough, Moses' new job, watching sheep, happened to be in the area where he would eventually lead the Israelites. He knew the territory well.
Paul desires to preach in Rome and he eventually gets there, after being arrested, tried, shipwrecked and of course, beaten and imprisoned. This probably was not the way he envisioned it.
Oh, and the religious leaders of the day, missed the coming of the Messiah because they just couldn't accept the fact that God would do things the way he did.
We must think and pray very hard before telling someone that they are out of God's will simply because things aren't happening the way you think they should. It is a solemn thing to tell someone they are not following God's will. If you are going to say that, you'd better be right!
Comedienne Chonda Pierce did an interview in regards to her battle with depression. Please take time to listen to what she has to say in regards to the working of God.
I don't think anyone could have said it better.
But Praise God his Grace is sufficient to take us through, No matter what. I keep my eyes on Him because no matter what anyone says, this Girl Knows different..b.
Thank you again K as my youth would say, "You Rock!!"
Excellent, inspiring. And humbling.
We so often led something so basic get in the way. Us! We ask (demand) things that are not in God's plan. We want things now. We expect some other miracle to come rescue us when God has already given us the solution. (i.e. the wonders of modern medicine)
Yes, He leads, we follow.
