How We Must Live

In the closing of his first letter to the Church at Corinth, Paul writes these words.

Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love. - 1 Corinthians 16:13 (NLT)
This is a good summarization of how we are to live as Christians.

We must continuously be on guard, not just against sin but we must also be ever alert, watching and listening for the direction of the Holy Spirit. Where does He want us to go? Who does He want us to talk to? What does He want us to do or say? When should we speak and when should we listen and how should we accomplish what He wants us to do?

We must remain firm in the faith, even if our world is crumbling around us. We must trust in the Lord and cling to matter what! In doing so we must be courageous and strong. Though we may fear, we know the One who does not and He will give us the courage and the strength that we need.

Finally, we must be motivated by and do everything in love. This is where we fail so often. We may start out this way but if we are not careful, the enemy will quickly contaminate it and turn it into a self-righteous sort of love which is not love at all! The world is not fooled by this counterfeit love. Our daily prayer should be, "Help me to love others as I should."

May we do all of these things everyday and wrap them all up in love.
