Listening To God's Voice

The Daily Bible Verse here at CB today is: "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I have strengthened you, and have also helped you, yea, I will also uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." Isaiah 41:10 (Pesitta) I must admit that sometimes, okay, a lot of times, this is easier said than done. I suspect this is true for others as well, especially when we encounter the silence of God.

I learned a long time ago that sometimes it does no good to even attempt to talk to a child when they are hurt or upset. Though we might long to gather them up into our arms and comfort them, sometimes that is exactly the wrong thing to do. We have to let them be for a bit and wait until the right moment before we intervene. Strangely enough, if we do not, we will be met with rejection or even anger.

Though the authorship is unknown, most scholars attribute Psalm 119 to David. Verse eleven says: "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." (KJV) It is critical for us to do the same. Yes, we must know God's Word so that we know His commandments and know how He wants us to live but it is also our sword and God speaks to us through his Word as well. Often we are seeking some sort of miracle, a physical manifestation from God, a loud voice from Heaven directing us as to what we should do and where we should go but most of the time, God does not work that way. You see, we have His written Word and often, it is through His Word that God speaks to us.

When it seems like God is silent and we cannot seem to hear His voice, we must go back and consider what we do know from His Word. For example, we know that it is a lie that God has abandoned us because His Word contains promises like Isaiah 41:10 as well as Deuteronomy 31:8, Hebrews 13:5,Matthew 28:20 and Isaiah 43:2. Psalm 54:4 tells us that God is our helper and Psalm 72:12 declares that God will deliver the needy and the poor when they cry out to Him.

When we're afraid, when we're alone, when we are overwhelmed we need to remember and believe what God has declared in His Word.

Blessings!

Just a thought when we can't get through to God more importantly can God get through to us

So glad you reminded us of going back and considering what we know from His Word. How true this is, for His Word is "always" true, and on this we can "always" rely!
