For the past few days I've been listening to the song Mighty To Save by Laura Story a lot. In fact, I'm listening to it right now. I decided to follow Jesus forty years ago and I've been doing it ever since. I wish I could say that I have always done that perfectly. I haven't. Fortunately, God is willing to take me as I am just because he for some crazy impossible reason...he actually loves me with an unending, unconditional love. What's even more amazing is his love is not exclusive rather it extends to all of us.
How can we question him? How can we doubt him when he sacrificed himself...yes, himself for us? Our shortcomings, failures and actions can eventually kill human love. They cannot kill God's love! He gets right down into the pit with us. He stoops right down into the mud with us. We fight, scream, spit, and perhaps even swear at him. We tell him to go away and leave us in our misery. We accuse him of lying to us and then we try to slap him in the face and betray his love but he absolutely refuses to leave us. This is our Redeemer! This is our God!
We live in a fallen world filled with horrible things. We've been broken and maimed. Terrible things happen to good people. We are surrounded by fear, uncertainty, pain and suffering and yet...in spite of that, we have a Savior. He is our Redeemer, our Defender, our Strong Tower, our Rock, our Champion, our Healer and our Lord and King!
He is bigger than broken relationships, He is bigger than unemployment, He is bigger than fear, He is bigger than financial problems, He is bigger than abuse, He is bigger than addictions and He is bigger than injuries and diseases...including cancer. A brother here on CB who is also a cancer-survivor told me cancer is not the big c. Christ is the Big C so he does indeed have the Big C. I hope he won't be offended when I say right now he is in the midst of battling this beast and he and his wife need our prayers. If you're reading this blog, please take a moment to lift up this brother in prayer.
Over the past 40 years, I have to admit God has never failed me. Never. I don't think he has ever failed you either. If he really had, I highly doubt you'd be here reading this right now. You'd just look at the title and think "No he doesn't" and move on. You might think "She doesn't know the giants I've faced." No, I don't but the reverse is also true. A giant is a giant. Our battles may be different but they're still battles.
Regardless of our situations, God's Word still holds true. His Word, not the words of the enemy, are what we need to hold in our hearts and minds.
The LORD your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)
May we use the Word to slay our enemies in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Amen and AMEN! Thanks for the inspiration! I needed to remember this. Through the dark stormy nights He is there!
WOW. How true this is. God is unconditional and He will never leave us or forsake us. It is us (I) that leaves Him. Thank God for Grace

His will always be bigger then our failures too.
Amen Amen, All glory to God, Thank You Jesus for never failing me.
