The man whom God himself said to satan
"Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil." Job 1:8 (NIV)was stripped of his family, possessions, health and friends. He endured accusations of wrong doing by friends and even his own wife told him to curse God and die.
This was not some ordinary man on the street. This was Job. God said there was no one like him. God called him blameless! Yet... look at what happened to this man of God, this man of faith, this man who would offer up sacrifices on behalf of his grown children, just in case...
I have heard people get upset when Job is brought up. I have heard things said like, "Well, he is only ONE example." Yes, he is and what an example he is! This one man was touched in every single area of importance. He lost his children, he lost his wealth and social position, he lost his friends and his own wife turned on him. His health was completely destoyed and can you imagine the emotional and psychological turmoil this man was in? Think about it!
It wasn't Job's fault. God Himself declares Job to be blameless and upright. If God says it, then it is the truth. Yet God permitted Him to endure these things.
I've thought a lot about Job over the past few years. I suppose you could say I even identify with him a bit. While I certainly have not been hit by things like he was, I do know what it is like to look in a mirror and not recognize yourself. I know what it is like to watch your hair fall out in clumps and your skin turn gray. I know what it is like to loose your hair and not just from your head. I know what it is like to suffer from painful radiation burns and have the radiology oncologist shake his head as he examines the skin. "If it gets worse, we will have to delay treatment for a few weeks."
God knows what you are going through and whether you see His hand or not, it is there. He has not turned a deaf ear to you nor has He abandoned you. He is with you in this race and He will carry you to the finish line.
But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God! I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought! Job 19:25-27 (NLT)
This is a video clip of Team Hoyt . Rick Hoyt has cerebral palsy but has competed in marathons and triathalons with the help of his father. May this video remind you of how our Heavenly Father is running right along beside us... carrying us when necessary. Regardless of our circumstances... our Redeemer lives!
Present day overcomers. An amazing video clip K. Thank you so much for sharing it. I would recommend this blog as a reality check for everyone if I could do so more than once.
