A powerful weapon the enemy tries to use on us is something called "It". "It" comes in all sorts of different sizes, shapes and colors. Although "It" prefers to wear camouflage, "It" does have access to an assorted wardrobe as well and is always prepared to come dressed for the occasion.
Sometimes "It" wears the robes of hurt feelings. This is a favorite because hurt feelings destroy relationships and often isolates us as Christians thus making us easier prey for the enemy. Some other common forms of "It" are bad relationships, bitterness, pride, finances, your spouse, family, job, friends, apathy, disease, addictions, etc. Anything in your life which you believe to be bigger than God is "It". Sometimes, "It" can be removed instantaneously but at other times, God allows "It" to come up along side you and stay awhile so that you may testify to others that God is truly bigger than "It".
"It" drags you down as a Christian. "It" causes you to be weak and vulnerable. "It" will cause you to stumble and be wounded if you don't confront "It" head on. We must aggressively attack "It" when it rouses it's ugly head.
Whatever we do, we must not let "It" win. Whenever we openly or even secretly believe that "It" is bigger than God, "It" is winning. Whenever we focus on "It" more than on God, "It" is winning. By the same token, when we take our eyes off of "It" and focus on God, "It" is losing. When we focus on God, He is glorified regardless of the fact that "It" is screaming in your ears. Often, others take notice that "It" is losing and they want to know how they can defeat "It" as well. You see, when we're focused on God, we no longer hear "It". We only hear the voice of our dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and whenever that happens, "It" suddenly discovers it no longer has any power over you and has been rendered completely useless. Hooray!
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9
Great blog! Loved the message. we must somehow learn to stop allowing IT to make us feel inferior to IT. Thats IT's Secret weapon.
That's IT in a nutshell.
be a blessing,
Just a shame this was not posted on tuesday, could have done with it then.
perfect though, I will have it for again.
Not only does IT come with an assorted wardrobe to dress appropriately, IT is always custom-tailored to mold itself to us and fit our individual body like a glove. The enemy is a masterful tailor or seamstress and makes sure IT clings perfectly to us, is never loose, and flows with our every movement.
But thanks to your blog, we know IT is there.
