No Strings Attached

Earlier this morning, I was reading a blog by Kirk M (@blessings2you) entitled His Truth Is Still Marching On. He wrote:

I know people who have ministered the Word of God in the Congo and other central African countries. There is no prosperity gospel taught for there is no prosperity. The people only have enough in the physical realm to survive and that is all they want. Their hunger for spiritual matters comes from deep within their hearts. They do not want to hear the Gospel to get healed, rich and famous; they just want to know more about Jesus.
They just want to know more about Jesus. Do we or do we want to hear about "Jesus and..."?

Reading the blog got me to thinking of a free conference I attended conducted by Anne Graham Lotz a few years ago. She had written a book called "Just Give Me Jesus". Do we just want Jesus or do we want Jesus and Prosperity? Do we just want Jesus or do we want Jesus or do we want Jesus and Fame? Do we just want Jesus or do we want Jesus and Honors? Do we just want Jesus or do we want Jesus and Something Else?

I'd like to close this blog with the words of an African-American spiritual of unknown authorship. It is known simply as "Give Me Jesus". As you read these words, please remember this was in all probability written by a slave and it was first sung by people who were slaves as well. It is interesting that the cry of their heart was you can have all this world, give me Jesus. Is it the cry of ours?

In the morning, when I rise In the morning, when I rise In the morning, when I rise Give me Jesus

Give me Jesus,
Give me Jesus.
You can have all this world,
Give me Jesus.

When I am alone,
When I am alone,
When I am alone,
Give me Jesus.

When I come to die,
When I come to die,
When I come to die,
Give me Jesus.

Give me Jesus.
Give me Jesus,
You can have all this world,
You can have all this world,
You can have all this world,
Give me Jesus.

Blessings!

I love this old song. It is so beautiful in the simplicity of the words. I pray, I pray and I pray that my song is .. Just give me Jesus.
