Last week I had written about a well-known forum for breast cancer patients and survivors had gone offline. At the time, I had written about how God always keeps the communication line between us and him open.
Well, on Thursday the forum was still down. On Friday it was down. On Saturday it was down. On Sunday it was down. This morning (Monday) it was still down. It was interesting to see (and experience) the reactions. Women kept come back again and again. They kept trying to send messages to each other. I'm getting an error message. Is it my computer or are you getting that also. Women kept sending messages to the administrator. What's going on? Do you know when things will be back up? We were driving their IT department crazy but this was serious business to us.
Sometimes a post would show up for a moment. Did anyone know if so and so made it through their surgery okay? Did someone else's report come back B9 or positive? Then it would disappear as quickly as it came. Some people gave up but others kept coming back over and over again. They didn't want to miss it when the forum reopened.
This afternoon, the message came which so many of us had been waiting for. The forum was back online. Everything was back to normal. Women flocked back and greeted friends. One woman wrote "It is so good to be back home. I've missed all of my sisters!"
I started thinking about how persistent these women had been. Despite the fact that they didn't seem to be getting through, they still kept coming back over and over again. How do I know this? Well, an interesting thing was happening. Although we could only see it once in awhile, all of the posts were actually going through. When things came back up and the error message went away permanently, we could finally see that our messages had not vanished but they really did get through. There were all of our messages of love, concern and encouragement. They were there all of the time, we just couldn't see them.
There are times when we may really feel like God is not getting our messages. He seems so far away and it is so easy to convince ourselves that he can't or won't hear us. If we're not careful, we will get discouraged. This is not the time to give up! While it may not seem like God always hears us, we can be confident that he does. We need to keep pursuing Him relentlessly...no matter what.
The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. Psalms 34:17 (KJV)
My soul rejoices as i read this blog and consider the truth within.
How he hears my every prayer ; my every shout; my every cry for help.
And he never tells me to go away and give him peace. What a mighty God we serve.
