Take a closer look at her wings for a moment. That's quite a wingspan isn't it? They certainly look like they could easily lift her up high into the sky, up above the clouds, don't they? They look perfect... but they're not.
In fact, they are the reason Angel is held in captivity at the National Eagle Center and used to help teach people about American Bald Eagles. If Angel were to be set free, she would not survive for very long. You see, when she was an eaglet, her wing was severely broken and the muscles were permanently damaged. She was found near death. Her wing was properly reset so it could heal but the damaged muscle could not be repaired. She can flap her wings but she is unable to lift herself high enough to fly. Everything looks well... but it is not.
I can't help but think about how often we look fine on the outside. We seem to have it all together. We seem to be standing strong. We may even seem to be a "super Christian". Looks can be very deceiving. The truth of the matter is we have all been injured at some point in time. That is a part of being human and living in this world. Thankfully, God can see past the external you and see YOU!
God's Word tells us to love one another (1 John 4:7-8). I believe that loving one another also means that we need to ask God to help us look past the external and help us to be sensitive toward one another. We must learn to hear the cries of our brothers and sisters when they are unable to fly so that we may be able to reach out to them with healing hands of love and encouragement. We really do need one another.
May we learn to do life with one another as we all do life with God...
Amen my dear sister K. Inside that mighty armour of God is still a child who, while being brave for battle, is always glancing to make sure The Father is there watching. And yes, we all need Him to watch and love us through one another also. "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, If ye have love one to another." John 13:35
Looking at what appears on the outside but not the inside Jeremiah repeats the same thing on two occasions,
["...Jeremiah 6:14 (Whole Chapter)
They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
Jeremiah 8:11 (Whole Chapter)
For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace...]
And it may appear that everything is fine on the outside but there is no real peace...
This got me thinking about our New Zealand eagle...the largest eagle in the world, its wingspan some two metres across. It became extinct a long time ago. It reminds me that size is not an issue, care is the issue. In just the same way, it is who we are in Christ that helps us to grow, to become strong, to survive. New Zealand's version of 'have a nice day" is "see you later" and when I first came back here I thought people actually meant it! The truth is that God is the one who provides all of our needs and he will bring before us those with whom we should journey, those we are to grow alongside.kb
Thank you K for this beautiful and enlightening Blog, Since I can rememeber I have always been a person that was sensitive to others needs and what they where or are feeling and never could understand how others could be so different in their actions towards others. The reactions that I have been given by others has not always been good but Gods Love prevailed everytime so that my love and compassion towards his children only increased. I remember when I was a youth telling someone don't "get mad at me get mad with God for He made me this way" and all they could do was walk away and think! There is a blessing for loving one another, I thank God for His peace that He gives us and for the guidence of the Holy Spirit. When you follow Him He will never lead you wrong.
God Bless and Keep You
We all need help at some time or the other. We can never be strong enough to endure all our trials and tribulations alone. Sadly, those of the world have a tendency to criticize and putdown those who are weak or fallen. This is why it is so important that we who truly serve the Lord ALWAYS be willing to be there for our brothers and sisters. Always be there to pick them up, dust them off, uplift, and encourage them to go on... try again.
The Lord is never as disappointed as people may think when we fall because He loves us, and KNOWS that we are going to fall at some point. What I believe does disappoint Him is when we fall, and then quit trying.
Thank you for another inspirational message, K.. God Bless!
