We've all been guilty of doing it. We hear a scrap of conversation, we walk in during the middle of a movie or start daydreaming while someone else is talking to us. Other times we get interrupted while we are reading a book and when we come back, we can't quite remember where we left off so we simply jump in where we think we may have been and move on. Sometimes we can piece things together or what we missed was not important. Other times, however, we missed something very pertinent. It is a very important piece of the puzzle and without it, we cannot see the whole picture.
We are not always going to see the whole picture. Often times the whole picture is not for us to see. We like to think that everything is our business all of the time but it is not.
The problem is not that we do not always see the whole picture. The problem comes about when we act like we do. We jump in and make sweeping judgments about something or someone based on incomplete or inaccurate information. We assume that we know something when in reality we don't.
Earlier this week, a friend of mine had this happen to them. Someone put words in their mouth; someone assumed my friend was saying thus and so. The problem was, their interpretation was completely wrong.
I had this happen to me today. Someone assumed they knew all the facts about a situation when in reality, they really knew nothing of the details at all for it was none of their business. However, despite their lack of knowledge, they became my judge and jury.
I wish I could say that I have never been guilty of doing the same but I can't. There have certainly been times when I have made assumptions, jumped to conclusions or unknowingly spread wrong information but that doesn't make it right. I am reminded that only God is all-knowing and ever present. I am not nor can I peer into the hearts and minds of others. Only God can do that.
I am reminded that I must be very careful not to make assumptions. I must remember to check my facts and above all I must remember that I have no right to be the judge and jury of anyone. That position belongs to God and God alone. Truthfully, I am glad it does for only God can see the whole picture.
Wonderful!!! Who cares what others think, or the assumptions they make. They have to answer for it one day. We on the other hand have to answer to our response to their assumptions... (am I still making no sense and rambling)
well, you know what I mean.
I know what you mean K . On the subject of forgiveness, some will add the word forget. We are not commanded to 'forget', but to forgive. We shouldn't harbor hard feelings, but we can't just forget like God does.
No, we don't always see the whole picture. I don't even see myself as clearly as God does. I have no idea how many hairs are on my head, or even how many fall out .
I hope the comment is not off topic, it was just the picture I interpreted. God Bless You sister. I appreciate you. billy.
