Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; Psalm 33:18I don't know about you but whenever I consider these words, I am completely blown away. God, the Creator of the Universe, The Almighty One has his eye upon...us. Now, no matter how great we may think we are, we are not great enough to be worthy of even the tiniest bit of interest from God except...for some unfathomable reason He actually loves us.
It's not just any ordinary kind of love either. God's love isn't this here-today-gone-tomorrow sort of love. He doesn't love us until someone better comes along. God's love is not based on anything we do or don't do. There is nothing we can do to make God love us anymore or any less. We may do or not do things which causes him to be pleased with us but his love for us is not based upon those things.
Romans 5:6-8 (NIV) tells me
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.God's love is unconditional...no strings attached. It is crazy and completely foreign to humanity but since God is love (1 John 4:16) I daresay we are the ones who have it all wrong.
Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
May God help us to accept that His love for us is unconditional and as we live in Him, may we too learn how to love as He does...unconditionally.
